Teddi Mellencamp is not hiding the hard parts of her cancer battle.
Following a former star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” revealing that her cancer advanced to stage four in February, she provided followers with reasons as to why she discontinued her immunotherapy treatment because it exacerbated her symptoms.
Teddi revealed on their July 23 podcast, Two Ts in a Pod, that she hadn’t been feeling well for approximately a month. This was unexpected to her, and she believes it took a toll on her mentally. She found herself wondering, “Why do I feel this way when I felt so good after the surgeries? Why do I feel so weak now, when I was managing during radiation and immunotherapy treatments?” She struggled with simple tasks like keeping her eyes open and speaking clearly.
In the end, she arranged for an urgent visit to the doctor to identify the underlying issue, and her healthcare providers pinpointed the source of the trouble.
The longer I’m on immunotherapy, the more ill it seems to be making me,” the reality star said, explaining their situation. “It’s taking a real toll on me.
In a more optimistic light, it was discovered that Teddi’s medical treatment had been effective in reducing the size of her tumors, which gave her the confidence to momentarily pause and regroup.
She explained that it’s the immunotherapy making her feel unwell medically. To give her body a chance to recover, they plan to pause the immunotherapy treatments for a while. In the meantime, they will administer steroids and other measures to help strengthen her body and return her to a state where she can resume all her normal activities.
Certainly, Teddi has confessed that the most challenging aspect of her cancer fight recently is how her health issues have limited her involvement in her daily activities, such as spending time with her children, Slate (12 years old), Cruz (10 years old), and Dove (5 years old), along with her ex, Edwin Arroyave.
To begin with,” the 44-year-old confessed, “I was feeling fantastic. I had energy for numerous activities, such as attending my daughter’s horse shows, enjoying solitude at home, and I felt incredibly robust.
The fluctuation, however, has been difficult for the mom of three to handle.
She mentioned that the most challenging aspect for her has been realizing, “Wow, I’m not able to accomplish what I did yesterday,” or “Wow, I’m not able to do what I did three weeks ago.” Today, she’s feeling jittery and energetic, but still struggling.
