Why there are eight Premier League matches live on TV this weekend – but no Manchester United or Arsenal

The Premier League is back with the seventh round of games in the 2025/26 season – and plenty of live matches will be shown on television for fans to enjoy.

This weekend, eight out of the ten games will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and TNT Sports, mostly on Saturday and Sunday.

The week of matches kicks off with Bournemouth hosting Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on Friday Night Football, broadcast live on Sky Sports. Bournemouth, currently in excellent form, will face off against Fulham.

On Saturday at lunchtime, you can watch Leeds take on Tottenham on TNT Sports. Later that evening, Sky will broadcast a thrilling match between Chelsea and Liverpool – a classic blue-versus-red rivalry.

Premier League on TV this weekend

Friday 3rd October

  • Bournemouth v Fulham (8pm) Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League

Saturday 4th October

  • Leeds v Tottenham (12:30pm) TNT Sports 1
  • Chelsea v Liverpool (5:30pm) Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League

Sunday 5th October

  • Aston Villa v Burnley (2pm) Sky Sports+
  • Newcastle v Nottingham Forest (2pm) Sky Sports Main Event
  • Wolves v Brighton (2pm) Sky Sports Mix
  • Everton v Crystal Palace (2pm) Sky Sports Premier League
  • Brentford v Manchester City (4:30pm) Sky Sports Premier League / Main Event

That’s where the typical schedule changes. There will be four games played at 2pm on Sunday afternoon, and then Manchester City will play at Brentford to finish off the weekend during the 4:30pm Super Sunday match.

The extra Premier League matches being played on Sundays are due to the large number of teams participating in European competitions this season.

Both Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa played in the Europa League on Thursday, and Crystal Palace was in the Conference League. Because of these European matches, their Premier League games were moved to Sunday. Additionally, Wolves’ match against Brighton was already set for the 2pm kickoff when the original schedule was released.

There are a total of eight live televised matches to enjoy this weekend, but unfortunately, two of the Premier League’s biggest draws won’t be featured.

The games between Arsenal and Manchester United against West Ham and Sunderland will be played at the usual time of 3pm on Saturday, as they are subject to the broadcast restrictions.

This is disappointing news for Arsenal fans, especially as their team is playing well and has a chance to reach the top of the league table with a win. It’s a tough moment as they start to gain momentum and a victory would put them in a strong position. The fans were hoping for a successful run, and this setback is particularly frustrating.

Perhaps this situation is actually a positive development for supporters of United, considering they’ve only seen their team win nine times in 33 Premier League games while Ruben Amorim has been in charge.
