Why Tim McGraw Was Once Ready to “Walk Away” From His Music Career

Tim McGraw plans to keep hitting the stage over and over again.

Country singer Tim McGraw reassured his fans that he plans to continue performing, despite recent health challenges for both himself and his wife, Faith Hill, which had made him question his future.

During his October 25th concert at the Yaamava’ Theater in Highland, California, Tim revealed he’s recently undergone four back surgeries and two knee replacements. He also shared that his wife has been dealing with significant health challenges, having had five neck surgeries and a couple on her hands, according to a video from Fox News Digital.

You know, being on stage and acknowledging the doctors who’ve been helping my wife and me was a really emotional moment. It actually made me stop and seriously think about whether I could even continue performing. It was a tough realization, honestly, and I had to really consider what the future held for my career.

He explained that things were becoming increasingly difficult before his last surgery this spring. He was seriously considering stopping altogether, though he didn’t want to, because he didn’t see a way for things to improve.

Tim, who has three daughters – Gracie, 28, Maggie, 27, and Audrey, 23 – with his wife, Faith, 58, shared that he’s recovering well. He said the experience actually inspired his new song, “King Rodeo,” which he then performed.

The song acknowledges that time passes and things change, urging listeners not to become bitter about it. It suggests embracing the future, which is described as something mysterious yet potentially rewarding, and appreciating the good fortune you’ve already experienced.

Through all the ups and downs of life, Tim and Faith have consistently supported each other. Recently, the Grammy-winning singer celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary with a touching message about his wife.

He shared on Instagram on October 5th how much they’ve been through together – watching their daughters grow up, his own journey of maturity, and her constant support. He emphasized that she was always there for them, both during tough times and in moments of success.

“You are my girl,” Tim gushed. “I love you with a fire that grows each passing year.”

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, people are often told periods are painful and that this pain is just something women have to deal with. This leaves many of us feeling like we’re going through a difficult experience all by ourselves.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

I was so shocked to hear that Adam Devine is still dealing with injuries from when he was hit by a cement truck as a kid! Apparently, what happened when he was eleven continues to affect him even now. It’s incredible how something that happened so long ago can still have an impact.

In a 2025 interview on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast, Devine described the last year as a “nightmare,” explaining he’s been experiencing spasms all over his body and doctors initially believed his condition was life-threatening.

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has a few minor imperfections and isn’t quite working as it should.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what I just read about him! Apparently, he was in SO much back pain after their RV trip – like, seriously bad – that he actually had to crawl to the hospital! Crawl on all fours! I’m just devastated for him, but honestly, even hearing about it makes me admire him more. He’s so strong!

He described a strange tingling sensation that still lingered in his legs as of March 2025, sharing this on his Trading Secrets podcast. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he couldn’t even do a squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

She described a near-death experience, saying her life quickly passed before her eyes, and urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, as life can change unexpectedly.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, surprisingly, after it helped her discover a health issue. After doing some interviews, people online noticed her face looked “puffier,” and she initially brushed it off. However, doctors started commenting, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she’s relieved to be healthy. She shared this positive news in a February 2024 newsletter, saying it was the best news she could have hoped for.

In December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by a skate during a game, requiring 25 stitches. In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Though these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but assuring everyone he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed which led to a stroke.

After surgery, twenty days later, on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she temporarily stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembered only darkness, followed by light, leading her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, bravely shared her health struggles in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden and severe headache while at the gym, which quickly escalated. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she temporarily lost her ability to speak, often muttering nonsensical phrases.

Though she left the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure unfortunately failed, leading to a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, credits her family with helping her through a difficult time. In January 2024, she suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, who quickly came to her support. She shared with TopMob News that everyone “just came to my rescue.”

Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said, adding that she’s been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing fine.

In a September 2024 podcast interview, she revealed she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and persistent stomach pain, leading to a confusing array of diagnoses. Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being lasted for ten years and also led to struggles with food-related anxiety, body image issues, and questions about her identity.
