Why Timothée Chalamet Apologized to Kylie Jenner for Birthday Behavior

Timothée Chalamet’s emotions were out of this world on his 30th birthday. 

His girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, gave him a special gift last December: a private showing of his 2014 movie, Interstellar. While he appreciated the gesture, he admitted he wasn’t feeling his best before the screening.

Timothée recently shared with Matthew McConaughey, in a preview of their upcoming CNN interview, that he was annoyed on the drive to his surprise birthday destination. He wondered, ‘It’s my birthday—why are we driving half an hour outside of Los Angeles?’

Everything changed when he found out what she had planned. He remembered arriving at the theater and seeing they were going to watch Interstellar in IMAX. He immediately apologized for being in a bad mood during the car ride, saying he absolutely loves that movie.

Oh my gosh, he’s always loved that movie! Seriously, ever since it came out over ten years ago, he’s been totally obsessed with it. It’s so cute because he played Tom Cooper – you know, Matthew McConaughey’s son, Joseph Cooper’s kid – and he just has a soft spot for that role and the whole film. It’s amazing!

He admitted to Matthew in the interview that he’s seen the movie around 22 times, including 12 times in theaters when it was first released.

Okay, so it wasn’t just that private movie night! I mean, Kylie and Timothée – can you believe they’re dating?! It started in 2023, and honestly, I’m living for it. Apparently, Khloe Kardashian let slip they were partying with her until 1:30 AM at a family dinner back in January! Seriously, they’re everywhere and I need more details!

She shared on her Khloe in Wonder Land podcast that it was a really enjoyable experience. “We had a lot of fun, and Kylie especially loved it – she even stayed longer than me!”

Kylie, who has two children – 7-year-old Stormi and 3-year-old Aire – with her ex, Travis Scott, accompanied her boyfriend to both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards that month. At those events, Timothée won awards for his performance in Marty Supreme and publicly thanked Kylie for her support in his acceptance speech.

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet began dating rumors in April 2023, shortly after Kylie ended her relationship with Travis Scott, the father of her two children, Stormi (born in 2018) and Aire (born in 2022).

In August 2023, TopMob News reported that Kim Kardashian and Timothée Chalamet were still dating, even though there had been rumors about a breakup.

Following a public display of affection at Beyoncé’s birthday concert in Los Angeles in September 2023, the couple was seen together at a glamorous dinner during New York Fashion Week.

Timothée chuckled when GQ asked him about Kylie’s high profile and how it related to his own desire for privacy.

“This reminds me of that recent South Park episode with the Worldwide Privacy Tour,” he said, referencing the show’s parody of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. “Sometimes, people are going to be hella confused when you say you’re trying to live a private life.”

Despite not walking the red carpet together at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards, the couple appeared happy and cheerful on their date night at the ceremony.

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet both attended the Saturday Night Live after-party in November 2023, though they arrived at the event separately. Timothée had hosted the show that night.

Forget the awards, the real show at the 2024 Golden Globes was Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner sharing a sweet, public display of affection. All reports confirmed they seemed completely happy and unbothered by any gossip.

Kylie accompanied Timothée to the Golden Globes for the second year in a row. At the 2025 awards, Timothée, known for A Complete Unknown, was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in the Bob Dylan biopic. Although Adrien Brody took home the award, Timothée found success with Kylie, winning in the romance category.

Although Kylie didn’t accompany Timothée to the 2025 Oscars—where he was nominated for his performance in A Complete Unknown—she did join him at the Vanity Fair after-party.

The pair went to see the Los Angeles Lakers play the Minnesota Timberwolves in Los Angeles in April 2025.

Timothée and his partner made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome, where Timothée received a special acting award.

Kylie’s sister, Kendall Jenner, accompanied her on a date to see the New York Knicks play the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Kylie visited Timothée in Budapest in August 2025 while he was filming Dune: Part Three. They took pictures with fans while out at a coffee shop.

The couple coordinated their outfits in orange for the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme. Their look, featuring Chrome Hearts designs, was so memorable that Hacks actors Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs recreated it at the Critics Choice Awards in January 2026.

Timothée won Best Actor at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards for his role in Marty Supreme, and during his acceptance speech, he publicly shared his love for Kylie, revealing they’d been together for three years.

He told Kylie, who blew her a kiss from the audience, that he wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. He expressed his sincere gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”

Social media exploded at the 2026 Golden Globes when a photo of a name card supposedly belonging to Kylie Jenner, listing her as “Kylie Jenner Chalamet,” quickly spread online. But TopMob News, reporting from inside the Beverly Hilton, confirmed the real name cards had a different font than the one in the viral image.

Despite everything, it was a special night for the couple. Timothée acknowledged his girlfriend with a touching moment when he accepted the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film for his role in Marty Supreme.
