Why Timothée Chalamet Is Skipping Grammys 2026 Despite Nomination

Timothée Chalamet’s whereabouts during the 2026 Grammys are completely known.

Thankfully, the actor’s night isn’t over despite the red carpet portion of the Trevor Noah-hosted event being finished.

Despite receiving his first Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for his work on the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, the 30-year-old won’t be able to attend the awards ceremony. He’s currently in London, making travel difficult.

Although A Complete Unknown received its last award consideration at the Grammys—it was entered in the film categories last year—Timothée Chalamet has been actively promoting his new film, Marty Supreme. He recently participated in a Q&A session with director Richard Curtis (known for Four Weddings and a Funeral) at the Prince Charles Cinema, and then attended the London Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, where he won the Actor of the Year award.

He’s already had a remarkable run, recently winning both a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award. And he’s not stopping there – he’s also nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming BAFTAs, the Actor Awards (previously known as the SAG Awards), and the Oscars, all for his performance in the film directed by Josh Safdie.

He’s been focused on playing ping pong recently, but he still wanted to share his excitement about being nominated for a Grammy alongside artists like Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga. He celebrated the nomination on Instagram on November 7th with the message, “Dream Big.”

Even though he made a playful comment on social media, the former star of Little Women has openly shared how much it’s meant to be surrounded by and receive encouragement from his fellow actors throughout his career.

After winning Best Actor at the 2025 SAG Awards, he explained that the award was incredibly meaningful to him. He acknowledged that judging acting is subjective, but shared his driving ambition: to achieve true greatness. He admitted it might sound unusual, but he aspires to be remembered among the best, and finds inspiration in those legendary actors, including many in the audience that night.

Okay, so Timothée Chalamet wasn’t at the Grammys this year, which is a little disappointing, but honestly, there were so many other amazing stars there! I’m excited to share all the details about who showed up for this incredible, glamorous night in Los Angeles…
