Travis Kelce doesn’t always understand the play.
When Jason and Kylie Kelce revealed they were expecting their first child with a thoughtful gift, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end didn’t quite understand the meaning behind it at first.
On the April 22nd episode of their podcast, New Heights, Travis Kelce recounted finding something unexpected while opening a humidor. He said he discovered baby socks inside, alongside two boots, and jokingly questioned Kylie Kelce about it, asking why they were there.
It appears NFL star Travis Kelce still doesn’t quite catch on to baby news. During a podcast episode, when the social media director, Jake Chatzky, announced he and his wife are expecting, Kelce—who is engaged to Taylor Swift—didn’t immediately realize the connection.
Travis confessed he consistently realizes what’s going on a few days after the fact, saying, “I’m always a little slow to understand what just happened.”
Travis, 36, is a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews. Kylie, who shares her children – Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finnley, who is 12 months old – with Jason, says her daughters especially adore Uncle Travis.
Kylie described how, when her partner is with their kids, he fully focuses on them. She explained on her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, that he immediately gives them his complete attention and is always ready to play, often getting down on the floor with them before they even ask.
Okay, seriously, what is it about Patrick Mahomes that makes Jason and Kylie’s daughters SO excited to see him? I mean, it’s gotta be more than just being a nice guy, right? He’s a THREE-TIME Super Bowl champ! I just want to know what magic he has that makes them light up like that whenever he’s around! It’s adorable, but I’m genuinely curious!
“They have a zest,” she explained of their dynamic, “that hasn’t been worn down.”
And Jason, 38, would have to agree with Kylie’s assessment.
Jason told TopMob News in September that his uncle Travis is amazing. “We tease him a lot and wouldn’t leave him unsupervised with the kids – they’re too little – but he’s just full of life and energy,” Jason explained.
The former Eagles center also said his daughters instantly connected with the person they met, noting that while he’s good-looking, it’s his fun personality that really draws them in.

Jason and Kylie Kelce had their first child, a daughter named Wyatt Elizabeth Kelce, in October 2019.
Their second daughter Elliotte Ray Kelce joined the family two years later.
A year after Elliotte was born, Kylie announced she was expecting another baby, sharing a sweet photo to reveal the news.
The couple had their third child in February 2023, just a couple of weeks after Jason played against his brother, Travis Kelce, in the 2023 Super Bowl.
In May 2023, Jason posted a photo on Instagram of his oldest daughters with a large trophy, expressing his disbelief and excitement: “I never imagined I’d be holding the Larry O’Brien trophy, especially not in my own home!”
“Unbelievable honor to see it in person,” he continued. “The size is incredible, looks so small when NBA players are holding it, but it’s actually massive!! The girls were very interested in it.”
In August 2023, a family of five enjoyed some fun times at the field, as Kylie playfully shared on Instagram, saying they were there for Rita’s Italian Ice and tackling obstacle courses with their dad after practice.
Jason and Kylie celebrated Wyatt’s fourth birthday in October 2023 with a special party held at the Philadelphia Eagles’ stadium. Kylie shared on Instagram that the celebration happened while the Eagles were on a four-game winning streak.

Jason’s mother, Donna Kelce, shared a sweet message, calling her grandchildren the “cutest beautiful bunch of ‘lucky charms’ under that rainbow!”
