Okay, so Euphoria’s third season is finally done! Honestly, it was a bit of a rollercoaster – some episodes were amazing, others… not so much. And I wasn’t always sure what the show was trying to say, but now we’ve reached the end after eight episodes.
The season ended with a record number of viewers and a shocking twist: a major character died during a dramatic shootout. The episode focused on Ali (Colman Domingo) and his relentless pursuit of revenge.
Zendaya, the lead actress in Euphoria, had hinted on The Drew Barrymore Show that the show might not return for another season, and now the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, has confirmed that this will likely be the final season.

Why won’t Euphoria be returning for season 4?
Sam Levinson, the creator of the hit HBO show Euphoria, has announced that season 3 will be the last. There won’t be a season 4, and the final episode will serve as a powerful metaphor for the effects of addiction.
In a recent interview with The New York Times’s Popcast podcast, released shortly after the season 3 finale, creator Levinson stated that he feels the story—focused on addiction and its impact—has reached its natural conclusion.
Many aren’t surprised the series is ending, as the creator had already indicated he didn’t intend to make another season.
At the premiere of the show, creator Levinson told Variety he approaches each season as if it’s the final one. He’s focused on ending the current season powerfully, and was still making final edits to episodes 7 and 8, aiming for a truly outstanding result.
In a video showing what happened behind the scenes of the last episode, Levinson explained that the ending felt truthful. He believes a realistic outcome for someone like Rue is a tragic one.
It’s common for people struggling with addiction to experience setbacks and aren’t always prepared to stop using. But the situation is far more dangerous now, with the rise of fentanyl, and overdoses are happening at an alarming rate.
He added that if he were facing the same challenges today that he did when he was younger, he wouldn’t be in the same position he is now.

Nika King, who played Rue’s mother, Leslie, in the final episode, shared that having grown up with addiction in her own family, she always hopes for a positive outcome. But she understands that isn’t always realistic, saying, ‘Sometimes, it works out that way and sometimes, it doesn’t.’
“This is a real show about a real problem that we have in this country and that’s addiction.”
The season three finale of Euphoria was emotionally charged, ending with the tragic death of Rue, played by Zendaya. However, the season as a whole sparked a lot of debate, particularly regarding Cassie’s storyline and the show’s portrayal of sex work.
Now that Levinson has announced the end of Euphoria, it’s hard to imagine the show continuing. The deaths of key characters like Rue and Nate, combined with the passing of actors Eric Dane and Angus Cloud, make it difficult to see a future for the series.
