Why Zendaya’s New Wax Figure Is Polarizing the Internet

Some fans found Zendaya’s new wax figure to be rather challenging.

Actress Zendaya, known for her role in Dune: Part Two, recently received her tenth wax figure at Madame Tussauds in New York City. The figure was created based on a Bottega Veneta outfit she wore to a fan event for the film in Mexico City last February, and includes a replica of her engagement ring from Tom Holland.

Like all Madame Tussauds wax figures, this one was created using hundreds of precise measurements and photos of the celebrity taken in 2015 when she first posed for the sculpture. A team of 20 talented artists spent a full year carefully sculpting and perfecting the new wax figure.

According to Tiago Mogadouro, General Manager of Madame Tussauds New York, Zendaya has become one of the most well-known and admired celebrities of our time. He stated in a press release on January 7th that her wax figure honors her significant influence on the worlds of entertainment and fashion.

Even though a lot of effort went into making Zendaya’s wax figure, many fans weren’t sure it actually resembled the Spider-Man: Far From Home star.

As a huge fan, I’ve been following all the reactions, and one comment really cracked me up. Someone on X said you can look at the image for about four seconds before you suddenly realize it definitely isn’t Zendaya! They described it as looking like someone’s really vibrant, older Jewish aunt – and honestly, they’re spot on. It’s just not her!

“Something’s off,” another said, with one user adding, “They did her dirty.”

However, many people reacted quite differently, believing the figure looked remarkably like Zendaya.

“Why is everyone hating?” one person posted to X. “This one actually looks good.”

Another added, “The wax figure hate is so forced and cringe, this literally looks like Zendaya.”

Zendaya hasn’t spoken about her latest wax figure yet, but she was thrilled when Madame Tussauds created her first figures back in 2015 for their Orlando and San Francisco locations. She expressed her excitement about being honored in wax at the time.

She expressed how thrilled she was to receive the honor, especially since the event was held in her hometown in the Bay Area. She described it as ‘so cool’ to be recognized there.
