Okay, movie and theatre fans, get ready! I’m hearing some seriously exciting news: apparently, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey – yes, that Jonathan Bailey from ‘Bridgerton’ – are possibly going to be starring together on stage in London around 2027. It sounds like a ‘Wicked’ reunion is brewing, which is HUGE if true!
Rumors suggest the two actors will star in a new West End production of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park With George,’ but there hasn’t been an official confirmation yet.
I’m so excited to hear that the show is aiming to be back on stage in the summer of 2027 at The Barbican! It’s fantastic news, and The Barbican is a great venue – they’re even having Helen George from Call the Midwife star in High Society there next May, so they really know what they’re doing!
Sunday in the Park With George is a highly praised, Tony Award-winning musical. Created by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, it’s inspired by the famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, by artist George Seurat.
The story centers on Seurat’s difficult journey to finish his famous painting, and how his obsession with a single detail – a hat – consumes him. This leads him to push away the people he cares about, including his partner, Dot.

Ariana Grande has announced she’s planning to step away from making pop music once she completes her Eternal Sunshine tour in 2026.
On Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ show, she mentioned she’s thrilled to be doing a short tour, but doesn’t expect to tour again for a very long time.
I’m putting everything I have into this, and I believe the result will be wonderful. I’m truly thankful for the opportunity, and that’s really the driving force behind it – a final, fulfilling experience for the moment.
Jonathan Bailey is also taking a break from acting to concentrate on his charity, The Shameless Fund. This timing could allow him to participate in a musical production planned for 2027.
Bailey recently played a role in a production of Richard II at the Bridge Theatre, while Ariana Grande hasn’t yet performed in a West End show. Hopefully, we’ll hear news soon for those excited about Glinda and Fiyero, perhaps about their involvement in a stage production.
