Sources like MCU Film News and Twitter user ApocHorseman reported that Robert Pattinson was considered for the part of Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze). While he ultimately became Batman in Matt Reeves’ film, it’s interesting to think about how he might have portrayed the character and what that could have meant for Ghost Rider’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Marvel Studios intends to introduce a new Ghost Rider in Avengers: Doomsday. This aligns with the approach of directors the Russo brothers, who often debut new characters in their team-up movies – for example, Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War and The Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Last year, reports surfaced about a meeting between Marvel’s Kevin Feige and the actor, leading many to believe he was the frontrunner. However, it now appears that meeting was just an exploratory discussion.
One fan declared Ryan Gosling the perfect choice, and they may be right – he’s been connected to the role for a while. While promoting The Fall Guy, Gosling revealed he’d expressed interest in playing Ghost Rider to Kevin Feige. He described the conversation as a special moment, explaining he told the director he wanted the part, and Feige quickly pursued the idea. Gosling added that playing Ghost Rider would be “amazing.”
It’s certain Robert Pattinson won’t be playing Ghost Rider, but Ryan Gosling is a strong possibility for the part. And given how enthusiastic he appears to be, that would be a great outcome.
