Will Arnett Slams “S–t” Rumors About His Bond With Ex Amy Poehler

Will Arnett’s bond with Amy Poehler isn’t a bad case of arrested development.

The actors, who divorced in 2012 after nine years together, continue to show they remain friendly. The BoJack Horseman star recently addressed the untrue rumors about their relationship.

Will, 55, recently told Rolling Stone that he finds it amusing how many false assumptions people make about his life. He said he’s read countless opinions over the years and is often surprised by how much of it is simply fabricated, as if people actually understand what his life is like.

He continued, “Yes, it’s part of celebrity culture that we all participate in.”

Will and Amy, both 54, seem to be successfully co-parenting their sons, Archie, 17, and Abel, 15, despite their split. Amy recently made a surprise appearance on Will’s podcast, SmartLess (which he hosts with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes), and Will described the episode as a really good one.

He recalled Amy texting Sean and him earlier that day, excitedly sharing the news that they’d all been nominated for Golden Globes and suggesting they celebrate. She also mentioned she didn’t have Jason Bateman’s phone number, and thought that was probably a good thing.

Will said he enjoyed spending time with his ex-wife, but he was surprised to learn she’d be on the podcast – their kids hadn’t told him! Amy explained that Archie and Abel actually saw the appearance on her calendar and she’d asked them to keep it a secret.

He said they hadn’t been honest. His fifteen-year-old then apologized, admitting he’d known about it but hadn’t wanted to say anything. The father responded by telling him it was alright.

Amy’s surprise appearance wasn’t the only memorable part of the podcast. Will, who shares 5-year-old son Alexander with Alessandra Brawn, also revealed he continues to seek her advice on important decisions.

I talk to her more than almost anyone else, which is strange—you get what I mean? But it’s fantastic. She’s the person I turn to when I’m considering a new project or big life decision. I really value her advice, both professionally and personally, because I completely trust her opinion.

They are definitely not getting back together. However, with all the recent interactions – birthday celebrations, affectionate hugs, and even playfully acting out a romantic scene during the virtual reading of Fast Times at Ridgemont High – it feels like they’re just teasing everyone who still hopes they will.

It takes a certain level of confidence to playfully tease an ex on his own show. That’s exactly what Sarah did when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show to promote her new series, I Love You, America. She jokingly ribbed Jimmy about his wife, Molly Kimmel, calling her “cute,” “bright,” and “funny.” “It’s not fair!” Sarah quipped. “She gets the updated, more aware Jimmy. I only got the Man Show Jimmy.”

Honestly, some people seemed more upset about this relationship ending than the people who were actually in it. When Anna—who is now married to Michael Barrett—found out Chris Pratt was getting married to Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, she volunteered to perform the ceremony. She even sent a gift when their daughter, Lyla, was born in August 2020. A source told TopMob News that Anna was “very supportive” and happy for her son, Jack, to have a little sister.

Their breakup could have easily led to disaster, but four years later, these HGTV stars are thriving. They’re successfully co-parenting their children, Taylor and Brayden, and continuing to renovate dilapidated houses into beautiful homes for others.

Lenny Kravitz and his ex-wife, actress Zoë Kravitz’s mother, described their relationship as a close friendship – what he called being “best friends” in a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Despite their divorce and her subsequent marriage to and split from Jason Momoa in 2020, they maintain a family-like bond. Lenny shared that they’ve created a “one big happy family” dynamic, proving that positive relationships are possible even after separation.

Since ending their relationship in 2020, the co-host of Dancing With the Stars and her former hockey player partner have consistently shown they remain friendly.

When Brooks announced he was getting married to Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir in December 2024, Julianne shared her excitement on Instagram. She wrote a message saying how happy she was for the couple as they started this new phase of their lives, and wished them a future filled with love, joy, and many adventures.

The dancer, her ex-husband, and his pregnant fiancée spent a day together at the lake. She shared a photo of the four of them, calling them ‘three cuties’ and describing it as a ‘special day’.

After separating in 2015, the parents of Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel have successfully co-parented, consistently prioritizing their children. They’ve continued to share vacations and holidays, and Ben has publicly praised his ex-partner, calling her “an amazing mother” in a 2016 interview with TopMob News.

Nina and Ian dated for three years before breaking up in 2013, but they stayed friends. The following year, Nina began dating Nikki Reed and they quickly got married. As a result, Nina became friends with Nikki, who is known for her role in the Twilight films.

Ugh, when they broke up in July 2016 after FIVE years, I was devastated! But then she went on Howard Stern and basically said they’re still super close – she even called him her ‘lover and a friend’ for years! It wasn’t a total goodbye, okay? They clearly still care about each other so much, and honestly, it gives me hope!

“We love each other,” she said. “That’s it.”

Even years after The Office ended in 2013, the chemistry between its stars remained obvious, and Mindy Kaling understands why fans still hope they’d get together. She explained to Good Housekeeping in 2019 that choosing him to be a godfather to her children felt natural. “From an outside perspective, I get why people would think that,” she said, “but B.J. is truly more like family to me now than just a friend.”

After their divorce was finalized in 2011, the former couple easily continued to raise their son, Bronx. The Fall Out Boy singer has praised his ex-wife, calling her a fantastic mother.

It sounds like she’s moved on from her past with the singer from the Jonas Brothers. He’s stated they’re still on good terms, describing their connection as a friendly one. He says they maintain a positive relationship.

Oh my gosh, can you believe Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter first met while filming Dexter back in 2006? It was destiny! Then, a couple of years later, they actually fell in love – seriously, relationship goals! Even though they sadly divorced in 2011, Jennifer always says they still care about each other deeply and have nothing but love and respect for one another. It just proves how special their connection always was, even after everything!

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore are famously friendly exes, and their commitment to co-parenting daughters Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout is clear. It’s no surprise they decided to quarantine together in Idaho when the pandemic hit – maybe they even had a dance party!

Even four years after their 2014 divorce, Jennifer Lopez continued to praise her ex-husband, the father of her twins Max and Emme. In a 2018 interview on Sunday Today, she shared how Marc Anthony boosted her confidence during their marriage. He consistently affirmed her talent, telling her, ‘You’re a great singer. Don’t ever let anybody tell you you’re not,’ which she deeply appreciated, considering him one of the greatest singers ever.

Despite facing personal challenges, the actress remains supportive of her ex-husband and former Scream colleague. Eight years after their 2010 divorce, she shared on Running Wild With Bear Grylls that it was a relatively amicable split. They’ve successfully co-parented their daughter, Coco, and maintain a positive relationship.

You know, sometimes real-life relationships don’t last, but that doesn’t mean the chemistry disappears! A perfect example? Even though things ended for the actors back in 2007, they absolutely sizzled on screen together in the hilarious movie Bad Teacher back in 2011. It just goes to show, you can still bring the heat even after things cool down personally!

Although the actors had a difficult time immediately after their 2013 separation, they’ve reached a point where they can vacation together as a group. Speaking to LaPalme Magazine, the Twilight star shared that he enjoys a good relationship with his ex-wife’s husband. He described a 2017 trip to Cancun where they were joined by her husband, Dave Abrams, their three daughters – Luca, Lola, and Fiona – and Peter’s now-fiancée, Lily Anne Harrison. He also spoke about his ongoing connection with his ex-wife, Jennie, saying, “People enter your life for a reason, and relationships evolve. Just because you’re not living together doesn’t mean you can’t still care for each other.”

I’ve always admired how Will and Jada handled things, even when they separated unexpectedly back in 2012. They really prioritized their kids, presenting a united front for their sake. I remember Jada talking to Howard Stern in 2014, and she put it so well. She and Will were, and are, truly great friends. She emphasized they were successfully co-parenting, and she didn’t see their marriage, even after ten years, as a failure. She just acknowledged that relationships are genuinely difficult, and I totally get that. It showed a lot of maturity, honestly.

The Grammy-winning artist and her ex-husband, who officially divorced in January 2024, have maintained a friendly relationship while raising their son, Hayes. They even live just five minutes apart, making it easy to share parenting responsibilities.
