A major highlight of this year’s Tokyo Game Show was the reveal that Forza Horizon 6, the newest installment in Microsoft’s popular open-world racing franchise, is coming to Japan.
We haven’t learned much about the new project yet—just a brief teaser video. However, since Forza Horizon 5 came out nearly four years ago, it’s great to finally get a glimpse of what the future holds for the series.
Xbox is now focusing on releasing games on multiple platforms. This raises the question: will this particular game also be available on PlayStation 5? Here’s what we’ve learned so far.
Will Forza Horizon 6 come to PS5?
Yes, the developers have confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will come to PS5.
There’s a slight delay for PlayStation 5 players: Xbox and PC gamers will be able to start playing the game before those on PS5.
According to an official announcement on the Xbox Wire blog, Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to release on Xbox consoles and PC in 2026.
Following the success of the Forza series on other systems, Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios are collaborating to release Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5 after its initial launch.
When will Forza Horizon 6 come to PS5? Our speculation
It’s currently unclear when Forza Horizon 6 will be available on PS5, but if we had to estimate, it would likely be about four months after its release on Xbox and PC.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was first released on Xbox and PC on December 9th, 2024, and later became available on Xbox again on April 17th.
We’ve seen it’s possible to bring an Xbox game to the PlayStation 5 in roughly four months. However, Forza Horizon is an online game – unlike a single-player game like Indiana Jones – and that could make the porting process a little more complex and time-consuming.
As for Forza Horizon 6’s move to Japan, it sounds like it’s been top of fan demands for years.
Fans have been asking for a Japan location in Forza Horizon for years, and we’re thrilled to finally deliver it in Forza Horizon 6,” says Art Director Don Arceta in a recent Xbox Wire post.
Japan’s distinctive culture, encompassing everything from cars and music to fashion, makes it an ideal location for a new Horizon game. We’re committed to accurately and respectfully portraying the country while still delivering the open-world experience players expect from Horizon, and we believe now is the perfect time to bring that vision to life.
He explains that what makes the Horizon games so special is that each installment helps the team improve and create even more impressive sequels.
We listened to what players wanted, and we also used what we learned from creating content like the Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 5. This experience was especially helpful when building the elevated roads and city layout in Forza Horizon 6.
Count us in when the time comes.
