Dawn French’s new comedy, Can You Keep a Secret?, recently started on BBC One. Because all six episodes are available on iPlayer, some people have already watched the whole series.
The show centers around Debbie Fendon, who tries to claim her husband’s life insurance money after a strange series of mishaps led everyone to believe he had died.
It turned out to be much more difficult than expected to keep William (Mark Heap) a secret from her family and neighbors. After being hidden in the attic for months, he understandably grew restless.
Across six messy and unpredictable episodes, the Fendon family – including their son Harry (Craig Roberts) and daughter-in-law Neha (Mandip Gill) – struggle to maintain control as their badly thought-out plan starts to fall apart.
The series unfortunately concludes with a disappointing outcome, leaving viewers uncertain about its continuation. Here’s an update on the future of Can You Keep a Secret? on BBC One and iPlayer.
Will there be a Can You Keep a Secret? season 2?

It’s still unclear if the BBC will renew ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’ for another season or cancel it. The decision will probably depend on how many people watched the first season.
As of now, it’s too early to tell how successful the show will be, or if its audience will increase. However, Broadcast reports that the initial overnight ratings for the first episode were a bit lower than those of Amandaland, which had 1.9 million viewers.
Naturally, the ‘Motherland’ spin-off performed much better, more than doubling those numbers in its first week. Many viewers who didn’t catch the original broadcast watched it on BBC iPlayer or through recordings.
It will take about a month before we have a clear idea of how many people are watching ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’. Until then, we’re hoping it finds a large audience, so please tell your friends and help spread the word!
What could happen in a potential Can You Keep a Secret? season 2?

If the show Can You Keep a Secret? gets a second season, it will need to explain the surprising ending of the first season, where another person in town discovered the Fendon family’s secret.
Dr. Harper (Mona Goodwin) was shocked to find William (Mark Heap) is actually alive, especially since she was the one who previously announced his death.
This potentially damaging information might be used to pressure Dr. Harper into silence, as revealing it could harm her career.
Right now, we can only guess how the Fendons will manage to get themselves out of this difficult situation.
Who could star in a potential Can You Keep a Secret? season 2?

If “Can You Keep a Secret?” gets a second season, we can likely expect the main actors to reprise their roles as the quirky and chaotic Fendon family, with Dawn French as Debbie and Mark Heap as William.
Craig Roberts and Mandip Gill will probably return as Harry and Neha, the couple’s son and daughter-in-law, and we can expect to see most of the quirky neighbors again as well.
Jean, formerly part of the ‘widow club’ and portrayed by Heather Seymour, turned out to be the one behind the Fendons’ troubles and Pamela’s unexpected sickness. Luckily, she was arrested in the final episode.
Just a quick recap of the main characters from ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’ and who might be back if there’s another season.
