You can now watch the complete first season of Guy Ritchie’s “Young Sherlock” on Prime Video. The series follows Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the famous detective travels the world solving mysteries.

This new take on the Sherlock Holmes story introduces his family – portrayed by Max Irons, Natascha McElhone, and Joseph Fiennes – and reimagines his notorious rival, James Moriarty, played by Dónal Finn, as an early friend and partner.

The first season leaves us wanting more, hinting at future storylines. But will Prime Video renew the show for another season, and if they do, when can we expect it?

Will there be a Young Sherlock season 2?

It’s still unclear if “Young Sherlock” will be renewed for another season. There haven’t been any official announcements about its future, but it’s still very early – the first season just came out. We probably won’t have a definitive answer for a few weeks or months.

It looks very likely the show will get a second season. The first season left some storylines unfinished, and Moriarty hasn’t fully become a villain yet. We can expect to see him transform from Sherlock’s friend into his main enemy before the series ends.

When would a potential Young Sherlock season 2 be released?

There’s no confirmed release date for a second season of Young Sherlock yet. The first season began filming in the summer of 2024 and premiered a little over a year and a half later.

If the show gets renewed, we anticipate the second season will likely arrive on Prime Video after a similar wait, considering the series is filmed in many locations and requires extensive production.

This points to a potential release in late 2027, but early 2028 seems more probable. We’ll share any new information on this page as soon as we have it.

Who would star in a potential Young Sherlock season 2?

If “Young Sherlock” gets a second season, Hero Fiennes Tiffin would almost certainly reprise his role as Sherlock Holmes, and Dónal Finn would likely return as James Moriarty, Sherlock’s friend who eventually becomes his greatest rival.

Max Irons and Natascha McElhone are expected to return, along with Holly Cattle, who plays Beatrice Holmes – Sherlock and Mycroft’s sister, previously thought to be deceased.

Honestly, I don’t see Zine Tseng coming back – her character definitely had a conclusive ending. And while I loved seeing Joseph Fiennes and Colin Firth, I’m guessing we won’t be seeing Silas Holmes and Sir Bucephalus Hodge again either. It feels like their stories have wrapped up too.
