Will there be The Mighty Nein season 2?

Critical Role’s popular Dungeons & Dragons series has grown to include ‘The Mighty Nein,’ a retelling of their second campaign.

This animated series has a similar style to the popular Prime Video hit, The Legend of Vox Machina, but tells a new story with a different set of characters, set years later.

With Vox Machina heading into its fourth season, fans are starting to ask if another campaign, The Mighty Nein, could also be a long, multi-year story like the first.

Want to know what’s coming in the second season of The Mighty Nein, the collaboration between Critical Role and Prime Video? Here’s everything we’ve learned so far.

Will there be The Mighty Nein season 2?

Even though Prime Video hasn’t officially announced it, evidence suggests that ‘The Mighty Nein’ has already been renewed for a second season before the first episodes even come out.

Voice actor Travis Willingham shared at IGN Live in June 2025 that the series is taking a new direction. He said to expect some changes, but assured fans it will be great.

We’ve filmed both the first and second seasons, and they look amazing! We’re including all the key scenes that fans and we, as the team, really wanted to capture.

Since the team has already finished recording the entire second season, it’s highly unlikely Prime Video would cancel the show now – everything seems to be on track.

The streamer might be waiting to share a promotional announcement until after the first season has finished airing.

When could a potential Mighty Nein season 2 be released?

Prime Video hasn’t announced a release date for The Mighty Nein season 2 yet, but we anticipate it will arrive around 18 months after season 1.

The gap between seasons one and two of Critical Role’s animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina, was just a year. However, the wait for season three stretched to nearly two years – a delay that was likely worsened by the 2023 Writers Guild of America strikes.

Since season two of The Mighty Nein is already in production, it’s likely to be released relatively quickly. However, as shows like Invincible have proven, animation can be a surprisingly lengthy process.

We’re currently guessing that The Mighty Nein will arrive around spring of 2027, but this is just an estimate at this point.

Who could return for a potential Mighty Nein season 2?

Season two of The Mighty Nein will bring back the popular cast of Critical Role for another round of exciting, magical adventures. Expect to see a few famous faces pop up along the way!

The first season was boosted by appearances from well-known actors like Lucy Liu and Mark Strong, and ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ has featured guest stars including David Tennant, Henry Winkler, and Stephanie Beatriz.

Here’s a reminder of the key players in The Mighty Nein season 2:

  • Laura Bailey as Jester Lavorre
  • Taliesin Jaffe as Mollymauk ‘Molly’ Tealeaf
  • Ashley Johnson as Yasha Nydoorin
  • Matthew Mercer as Essek Thelyss
  • Liam O’Brien as Caleb Widogast
  • Marisha Ray as Beauregard “Beau” Lionett
  • Sam Riegel as Nott the Brave
  • Travis Willingham as Fjord Stone
