William Shatner Tried To Make A Case That Halloween’s Michael Myers Mask Looks Nothing Like Him, But I’m Not Convinced

Halloween is a fun time of year for many, filled with scary movies and lots of candy. However, not everyone has to worry about being compared to a famous horror villain, and I feel for William Shatner in that regard. The actor recently argued that the mask worn by Michael Myers in Halloween isn’t based on his face, but I’m not sure I believe him.

It’s well known that the iconic mask from the movie Halloween was originally inspired by William Shatner’s face. Shatner himself recently decided to address this, posting a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of himself wearing the mask with makeup. He’s essentially challenging viewers to decide if there’s actually a resemblance – check it out and see what you think!

I used to think the mask looked pretty neutral, but after seeing this, I’m totally convinced it’s actually William Shatner’s face hidden under there! If he thought this would stop people from linking him to Michael Myers from Halloween, well, it’s not working. It’s just making me think about it even more!

Rumor Has It William Shatner Was Rushed To The Hospital, But Not So Fast

Honestly, I get the feeling William Shatner was probably just joking around when he posted that picture! He’s even worn the Michael Myers mask before, like on Halloween to scare people. But you know what? Now that he’s in his 90s, the mask actually looks more like him than it did when the original Halloween movie came out way back in 1978. It’s kind of wild!

I’ve been thinking about horror villains and their skills, and it struck me that Michael Myers, despite being a terrifying killer, is surprisingly capable. I even argued he could probably handle some of the weaker heroes you’d find in the Marvel universe. This got me wondering – if Myers shares traits with John Wick, does that mean other iconic, stoic figures, like William Shatner, fit the mold too? That’s a question I’ll leave my audience to ponder.

It’s wonderful to hear from William Shatner as we approach the end of the 2025 television season, and it makes me hope we might see him appear in a future Star Trek show. It would be fantastic to include him in the upcoming Starfleet Academy series, even in a small role, as a way to honor his contributions to the franchise and his lasting legacy.

As a huge horror fan, I’m really hoping we get another Halloween movie someday, but it’s still up in the air. The recent trilogy wrapped up, and Jamie Lee Curtis has said she’s finished playing Laurie Strode, even if Michael Myers does return. So, honestly, the closest we’ll probably get to seeing Michael Myers on screen in 2025 is watching William Shatner jokingly claim the mask isn’t a likeness of him!

Enjoy a classic Halloween movie marathon with AMC’s on-demand options! I’ve been watching a lot of the films recently, and it’s gotten to the point where I can’t look at the iconic mask without picturing William Shatner.
