Here’s what you should do if you can’t move from Windows 10
If you plan to continue using Windows 10, there’s a simple way to stay protected after October 14th.
Microsoft is offering a way to keep Windows 10 secure after October 2025. Their Extended Security Updates (ESU) program lets you continue receiving security updates for an extra year. You can get these updates for free by signing in with your Microsoft account and syncing your PC settings. If you prefer, you can also pay a small fee of $30 or use 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
If you’re in the European Economic Area, this program is free and doesn’t require you to save your PC settings online. However, to stay enrolled in the program, Microsoft asks that you sign in with your Microsoft account at least once every 60 days. If you don’t, your PC will be removed and will no longer receive security updates.
