When Winona Ryder appears in season three of Wednesday with Jenna Ortega and the rest of the cast, it’s bound to be delightfully spooky.

Winona Ryder’s upcoming appearance on the show was confirmed by director and executive producer Tim Burton. He told TopMob News he was thrilled to have her join the cast, saying she’s a perfect fit for the series and a longtime friend he always enjoys working with.

This isn’t the first time Tim Burton and Winona Ryder have worked together. Winona first became well-known in Burton’s 1988 film, Beetlejuice, and they’ve since collaborated on Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, and the 2024 film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which also features Jenna.

The strong chemistry between Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder in their previous film together was a key reason the creators wanted Ortega to join season three of Wednesday.

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar told The Hollywood Reporter they greatly enjoyed working with her on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and are excited to have her join the cast at Nevermore.

Many believe Winona Ryder is the greatest of all time when it comes to portraying outcasts. Her iconic collaborations with Tim Burton have created some of the most memorable characters in film history.

According to a recent announcement, the next installment will reveal even more unsettling truths about the school and take Wednesday further into the Addams family’s crypt. As Wednesday herself might put it, ‘There’s nothing quite like digging up the past to bring a family closer.’

I’m a huge fan, and I’ve been asking around about future seasons, but Tim isn’t sharing any predictions just yet. He’s not giving us any hints about how long the show might run, which is a little frustrating, but I understand he wants to keep things under wraps!

He told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview with Jenna on July 23rd that he didn’t see it that way, adding, “You’re asking the two people least likely to agree with that.”

Tim, Alfred, and Miles are known for their wild imaginations, and they’ve already started brainstorming ideas for a spin-off series based on Wednesday.
