Winter 2026 Officially Revealed Anime’s Best Supporting Character and Its Strongest

The Winter 2026 anime season is shaping up to be one of the best in years, featuring popular series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren, as well as the surprisingly strong newcomer, Sentenced to Be a Hero. But beyond these highlights, another anime is currently wrapping up its story with a particularly impactful moment – one that has unexpectedly established a supporting character as a truly powerful force. This standout moment adds yet another reason to check out what’s proving to be the strongest anime season of the year.

The anime series Fire Force is finishing up with its final season. Fans were worried about how the last part of the story would be adapted, as it covers a lot of material from the original manga in just 13 episodes. However, the animation studio, David Production, has done a great job with the pacing. Because of this, Fire Force is becoming one of the most popular anime shows currently on air, and the most recent episode introduced what many viewers consider to be the best – and potentially strongest – supporting character of the season.

Fire Force’s Final Season Is Providing the Elements Other Currently Airing Anime Are Missing

The latest episode of Fire Force‘s final season, “Dragon and Knight Surge Towards the Heavens,” showcases Arthur Boyle as a standout supporting character and arguably the strongest in the series. Arthur’s powers and personality are driven by his imagination, allowing him to consistently overcome opponents by envisioning new abilities. He’s rarely been defeated throughout the show, with his only prior loss coming against Dragon, an enemy he acknowledged he wasn’t prepared to face.

The newest episode finally delivers the rematch everyone has been waiting for. Arthur boasts about rigorous training and becoming the “Knight King,” but his power is actually self-delusion – he’s convinced himself he’s gotten stronger. This intentionally absurd premise is highlighted when their battle with Dragon reaches the Moon. Even in space, Arthur continues fighting, imagining a simple ring is a “star ring” that lets him breathe. The resulting fight is a visually stunning highlight of the Winter 2026 season, culminating in Arthur defeating Dragon despite losing his legs and left hand.

Arthur has always been a bit of an oddball character, but the ideas of Adolla Burst and Doppelgangers in Fire Force hint that his real power comes from his strong belief in himself as a knight. The most recent episode really solidifies Arthur as the best supporting character, and arguably the strongest character, in any anime airing right now. It wouldn’t be shocking if he somehow survived even after losing the lower half of his body and being lost in space.
