Wireless Festival 2026 has been cancelled because the UK government refused to allow Kanye West to enter the country.
Wireless Festival announced today, April 7th, that Ye will no longer be performing. This is due to a ban from the UK Home Office preventing him from entering the country, forcing the festival to cancel his appearance.
The UK Home Office told BBC News that the rapper applied for permission to enter the country using an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). However, the application was denied because officials believe his presence would not benefit the public.
Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, had planned a three-night performance series in London this summer. However, the announcement of his shows caused widespread anger because of his past statements expressing antisemitism and support for Nazi ideology.

After the debate about whether he would perform and before it was announced his application was denied, Ye issued a statement explaining his intentions. He said he wanted to come to London and put on a performance focused on positive change, aiming to spread unity, peace, and love through his music.
I’d really like to meet with people in the UK’s Jewish community face-to-face and hear their thoughts. I understand that just saying the right things isn’t enough – I need to demonstrate real change through what I do. If you’re willing, I’m here to listen and learn. Sending my best.
Phil Rosenberg, representing British Jews, said their organization would meet with the rapper, but only if he canceled his performance at Wireless Festival.
According to Rosenberg, Kanye West recently released a song with the title ‘Heil Hitler,’ which represents the peak of three years of deeply offensive antisemitic behavior.
He made highly offensive remarks about the Black community, falsely suggesting that the 400-year history of slavery was a matter of personal choice.
Despite apologizing today, his recent album still features a song originally released last year called “Gas Chamber,” a deeply offensive title. The Jewish community is seeking authentic remorse and demonstrable change, and understandably questions whether a music festival is the right place to prove his sincerity.
We’re open to meeting with Kanye West to support his path to recovery, but only if he cancels his performance at the Wireless Festival this year.

In January, Ye issued an apology in the Wall Street Journal for his antisemitic comments, explaining that his bipolar-1 disorder contributed to his actions.
He described one of the hardest parts of living with bipolar type-1 as experiencing periods of disconnection – times he often doesn’t remember – that resulted in impulsive and risky actions, which felt like watching himself from outside his body.
Looking back, I’m truly ashamed of how I behaved and deeply regret it. I’m taking full responsibility and committed to getting the help I need to make real, lasting changes. None of that, though, makes what I did okay, and I understand that.
After the rapper’s scheduled appearance was blocked, Festival Republic’s managing director, Melvin Benn, explained why they’d initially booked Ye as a headliner. He clarified that Ye would only be performing music and wouldn’t be allowed to share his views from the stage.
He released a statement saying he finds Kanye West’s past comments about Jewish people and Hitler as deeply offensive as the Jewish community does.
Despite recent controversies, Ye’s music is still readily available in this country through radio, streaming, and downloads. He also has the legal right to enter and perform here.
We’ve hired him to perform, and that’s all. He won’t be sharing his personal opinions; he’s simply going to play the popular songs everyone is already hearing on the radio and streaming services.
