With All The Royal Rumbles Streaming On Netflix, There Are 3 I Think Everyone Should Go Back And Watch

For the first time, all past Royal Rumble events are now streaming on Netflix, after being available on Peacock and WWE Network for years. While longtime fans likely have their favorite matches they watch every year, others might need suggestions on where to begin. This comes ahead of this weekend’s WWE premium live event.

Okay, so as a huge wrestling fan, I’ve been thinking about the best Royal Rumble matches ever. I’ve narrowed it down to three that everyone needs to see, even if you’ve watched tons of Rumbles before. These aren’t just great events, but contain some truly iconic moments from my favorite WWE show of the year. Let’s dive in and I’ll tell you what they are!

The 1992 Royal Rumble

I might be looking at it with rose-tinted glasses, but I truly believe the 1992 Royal Rumble was the greatest of all time. While the other matches haven’t aged particularly well, the 30-man Royal Rumble match for the WWF Championship remains incredibly memorable and exciting.

The event featured wrestling icons like Hulk Hogan, the British Bulldog, Kerry Von Erich, Roddy Piper, the Undertaker, and Randy Savage. Ric Flair’s performance was particularly memorable – he entered as the third participant and lasted over an hour, a first for the competition, ultimately winning the WWF Championship. The event was full of drama, exciting moments, and included the iconic image of Ric Flair passing a disappointed Ted DiBiase. It truly was a perfect wrestling spectacle.

The 2001 Royal Rumble

The 2001 Royal Rumble is famous for a truly shocking moment, but I’ve always enjoyed seeing WWE Hall of Famer Drew Carey participate and last a surprisingly long time in the match. This event was much stronger than the 1992 pay-per-view, featuring four excellent championship matches leading up to the 30-man Royal Rumble. And speaking of the Rumble…

This event features many of the biggest stars from the popular Attitude Era, including the Hardy Boyz, the APA, the Undertaker, the Rock, Kane, Rikishi, and Stone Cold Steve Austin – who would later win his last Royal Rumble. It’s a fantastic show with exciting matches, unexpected twists, and plenty of funny moments – everything a wrestling fan could want.

The 2018 Royal Rumble

The 2018 Royal Rumble had its ups and downs – the order of matches felt a little strange – but it’s still a memorable event. The biggest highlight was the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble, which was fantastic from start to finish. Sasha Banks had an incredibly long match lasting over 55 minutes, Michelle McCool eliminated more opponents than anyone else besides Nia Jax and Nikki Bella, and Asuka earned her spot at WrestleMania. Plus, Ronda Rousey officially joined WWE after the match.

Shinsuke Nakamura had an impressive showing, lasting over 44 minutes and ultimately defeating Roman Reigns to earn a spot to challenge AJ Styles at WrestleMania. The match was also notable for a special moment featuring a clash between wrestling veterans like John Cena, Rey Mysterio, and Randy Orton, and rising stars such as Nakamura, Reigns, and Finn Balor.
