One memory that lingers in my thoughts for years is a particular sequence from the show “The Boys,” now wrapping up its fifth and final season. This series often crosses my mind, not only due to its top-tier status among Amazon Prime’s offerings but also because it brims with adult content that’s hard to forget.
The storyline and characters based on comics for the superhero show are consistently getting better with each passing season, and I’m excited to see how the fresh faces joining in Season 5 will fit into the narrative. As the final episodes approach, I can’t help but discuss a mind-blowing scene from the streaming series that left an indelible mark on me – it’s a brilliant example of edge-of-your-seat television at its finest, and the level of skill demonstrated in crafting such a shocking moment is truly remarkable. (The pun was not deliberate.)
That, Erm, Appendage Scene From Season 3 Is Still The Most Disgusting By Far, And It Haunts Me
I enjoy movies that belong to various genres, and I don’t mind watching top-notch horror films for amusement. I’m the type who gets emotional over heart-wrenching deaths on shows like The Walking Dead, more so than being truly scared of zombies. However, The Boys doesn’t require supernatural creatures to unsettle me; it’s enough just watching it. Specifically, the scene that leaves me rattled is when Termite explodes in Season 3 premiere, “Payback.”
This version maintains the original meaning while using more common and straightforward language for easier understanding.
I’ll rephrase the scenario for you in a more straightforward manner: I’m referring to an instance where Super Termite reduces in size and enters a man’s penis, primarily for pleasure. Upon sneezing, he returns to his normal human size, which in turn causes the man’s genital area to expand dramatically and eventually explode.
As a movie enthusiast, let me tell you, there’s an overwhelming amount of gore and other stuff scattered all around – it’s a sight that sends shivers down my spine. Frankly, I can’t fathom how someone could conceive such a gruesome scene. It boggles the mind, doesn’t it? The concept of your body exploding from a simple sneeze is something I find truly unsettling. It never fails to give me a chill.
Still to this day, many years have passed, yet that particular scene is the one that continually reverberates in my mind. The primary reason for this is its graphic nature, but what truly sets it apart is the unique blend of intimacy within it, which I’m not entirely accustomed to encountering. This peculiar mix only intensifies its unsettling quality. Eric Kripke, you possess a distinct talent for orchestrating such thought-provoking scenes.

Sure, The Boys Is Full Of Disturbing Moments, But How Do They Compare?
Is the Termite scene truly unmatched in The Boys, or are there other scenes that come close? Frankly, I’m hard-pressed to think of any. The Herogasm episode might be a contender, but the Season 3 premiere surpassed it by quite a margin. This is mainly because, unlike the Herogasm episode, no one is shown exploding in the Season 3 opener as a result of someone forcing themselves into another’s private areas.
I might as well mention the initial scene of the series, where A-Train accidentally collides with Hughie’s girlfriend, causing her to disintegrate internally. However, it doesn’t seem quite as disturbing, possibly because the scene lacks the close proximity that was present in Season 3.
Another way to phrase it might be: “A third contender I’d suggest is when heads literally explode in a courtroom scene, but that pales in comparison. Those were just heads. Despite there being more of those, ‘Payback’ had an entire body because of a sneeze in a…penis area. To clarify, ‘The Boys’ remains one of the finest superhero shows. However, I never thought I’d see such a thing in my lifetime.

I Can Only Wonder How Season 5 Will Up The Stakes
Given what we’ve seen so far, I find myself pondering about Season 5. While Season 4 was heavily focused on political commentary and boasted some amusing A-list appearances, the finale certainly left us with some high stakes. But surely, they won’t just leave us hanging in the final season, will they? I can’t help but wonder if we’re in store for even more intense scenes or if Termite’s botched plans will remain my top terror. I’m curious to know how they plan to surpass this.
As a movie enthusiast, I eagerly anticipate the release of Season 5 of “The Boys” in 2026. Until then, I find myself gripped by a sense of dread and revulsion. Oh, how I wish for someone to wipe clean my memory, alleviating this torment.
