Witney Carson’s latest tango made her lose her breath—and some of her blonde locks.
During practice for the upcoming season 34 finale of Dancing with the Stars, pro dancer Emma lost some of her hair while rehearsing with her partner, Robert Irwin.
Witney, 32, shared a funny story on Instagram about a mishap during a freestyle dance. According to Us Weekly, she posted a photo showing hair ripped from her scalp, joking, “Blood, sweat, and hair into this freestyle!” She’s a mom to two sons, 4-year-old Kevin and 2-year-old Jet, with her husband, Carson McAllister. In the picture, she laughed while holding up the lost hair, while fellow dancers, including Robert, 21, looked shocked. Despite the painful accident, Witney said she was still excited to perform the dance.
This dance will be a special moment for her and Robert, as it’s their final performance on Dancing with the Stars. In the November 25th finale, they’ll perform a freestyle routine set to a mix of songs by Sam Sparro and Avicii. They’ll also do a quickstep to Jett’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” as part of the judges’ selection.
Witney and Robert made it to the final five on the show’s semi-finals on November 13th, earning a perfect score for their energetic jive to Prince’s “Baby I’m A Star.” Sadly, Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas were eliminated that night. The week before, they had performed a beautiful foxtrot as a touching tribute to Robert’s late father, Steve Irwin.

As Robert Irwin competes for the Mirrorball trophy, he’s been thinking about how close he’s become with his dance partner. His sister, Bindi Irwin, won the competition in season 21.
I immediately felt safe and secure with Witney,” the conservationist shared on the Viall Files podcast in October. “She’s become like an older sister to me very quickly. I’ve gained all my confidence from her – from relying on our practice sessions, trusting my instincts and body, and trusting both the process and my partner.”
And according to Robert, he’s fully embraced this “trust fall.”
I’ve never tried something like this before, but I’m working with the very best, so I feel confident. I’m completely committed and ready to go – I’m giving it everything I have and hoping for a good outcome.
