Disney has announced a crossover event for *Wizards Beyond Waverly Place*, connecting it with another popular Disney show – a move fans are sure to love. The series recently wrapped up its second season on the Disney Channel with a dramatic finale that left viewers wondering what would happen to Alex Russo. But the story isn’t over, especially now that Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) has been revealed to be a key part of what’s next.
Okay, so I was a little bummed when Billie’s story seemed to take a backseat after season two. But get this – she actually showed up in *Vampirina: Teenage Vampire*! This new Disney show is about Vee, a young vampire who moves from Transylvania to a regular boarding school and tries to keep her vampire life a secret. Turns out Billie and Vee already knew each other, which was a really cool surprise! It basically confirms that both shows exist in the same universe, and I’m hoping for a proper crossover episode sometime soon – that would be awesome!
In the twelfth episode of *Vampirina* Season 1, titled “First Heartbeat,” the show crosses over with *Wizards Beyond Waverly Place*, bringing the character Billie into Vee’s world. This crossover is exciting for fans, as the original *Wizards of Waverly Place* previously had a big crossover event with *Hannah Montana* called *Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana*. Now, *Wizards Beyond Waverly Place* is getting the chance to do something similar.
In a recent episode of *Vampirina*, Vee and Billie strengthened their friendship after Vee unexpectedly arrived in the Wizard World. The episode explored how both characters deal with keeping secrets – Billie’s stemming from her connection to Lord Morsus and her involvement with dark magic.
We learned that Vee and Billie were campers at Creepy Lake together, but Billie was later expelled. The main focus of their story is Vee’s unpredictable magical abilities, and Billie offered to help her control them.
Billie’s magical spell required the voices of three other singers – Demi, Sophie, and Elijah – and, surprisingly, a chocolate cake. Unfortunately, the spell didn’t go as planned, and Billie mistakenly transformed Vee into a human being instead.
Changing Vee into a human was a huge risk. The Vampire Council had been watching her, and if they discovered her secret, they could force her to return to Transylvania. This prompted Councilman Eugene to request a meeting with Vee – and he chose a very public location: the top of the old Wilson Hall Clocktower.
A further problem arose with the reappearance of Gargoyle Number Five, who revealed to Eugene that Vee had temporarily lost her vampire status.
Meanwhile, Sophie, Elijah, Britney, and Billie teamed up to cast a spell, using a song to change Vee back into a vampire. The spell was successful, and Vee transformed. After a brief but meaningful reunion, Billie and Vee said goodbye, sharing a hug.
The episode concluded by revealing that Vee is weakening because she’s been away from Transylvania for too long. However, the real surprise was that she needs to return home permanently, or she risks losing her powers completely.
We don’t know exactly when this story takes place, but Billie seems happy and unaffected by the events of the *Wizards Beyond Waverly Place* Season 2 finale. This suggests it probably happens sometime during or shortly after Season 1, or perhaps early in Season 2. (You can find more information about a possible Season 3 of *Wizards Beyond Waverly Place* elsewhere.)
Based on Anne Marie Pace’s book series *Vampirina Ballerina*, the Disney Channel show *Vampirina: Teenage Vampire* was created by Randi Barnes. The series features Kenzi Richardson, Jiwon Lee, Milo Maharlika, and Faith Hedley. The first season premiered on September 12, 2025, and all episodes are currently available to stream on Disney+.
Why Wizards Beyond Waverly Place & Vampirina’s Crossover Is Significant
The new crossover event featuring *Wizards of Waverly Place* and *Vampirina: Teenage Vampire* is especially fun because it reminds fans of classic Disney Channel crossovers, like the famous episode with *Hannah Montana* and *The Suite Life of Zack and Cody*, and when the cast of *Wizards of Waverly Place* appeared on *The Suite Life*.
Now that both shows are officially connected in the same universe, we might see characters and storylines cross over in future episodes. This also opens up exciting possibilities for bringing back other popular shows like *Hannah Montana*, *That’s So Raven*, and *The Suite Life of Zack and Cody*—all of which share the same universe, too.
Now that Billie has visited Vampirina’s world, Vee might one day return the favor and travel to the Wizard World to help her friend. This could happen especially after the events of the Season 2 finale – losing Alex Russo and discovering Vee’s connection to Lord Morsus have created new challenges.
This team-up also created a shared universe for Disney’s spooky and fantastical stories, hinting at a larger, connected storyline to come.
