One family is reeling after a shocking discovery.
A woman’s child discussed the heartbreaking ordeal they faced when their mother lost over $81,000 due to fraudulent AI-created videos featuring ‘General Hospital‘ actor Steve Burton.
Vivian Ruvalcaba expressed her shock and dismay to KABC, stating that she found it appalling the situation escalated so severely. She wondered aloud why she wasn’t aware of the circumstances and lamented over what she failed to notice or understand.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share that my dear mom, Abigail, was battling bipolar disorder during that period. Unfortunately, she found herself immersed in a manic phase.
Based on a police report obtained by GMA, it appears that Abigail transferred approximately $81,000 worth of prepaid gift cards, cash, and bitcoin, and also sold her condo for $350,000. This was prompted by AI videos suggesting that Steve had lost property in the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.
Vivian stressed that in her mind, there was no indication of a fraudster; rather, she had been communicating with someone named Steve Burton throughout. If I hadn’t stepped in when I did, she was due to transfer $70,000 from the funds to this individual, who unfortunately turned out to be a scammer.
She admitted her guilt, stating,”I can tell she feels remorseful. The burden she carries, not just on me but also herself, my father, and our entire family, I can sense it deeply… Now, as a result of that weight, she finds herself in overwhelming debt and will likely need to declare bankruptcy.
As for what The Young and the Restless alum said in the fake videos?
Greetings, Abigail, let me express how deeply I care for you, my dear one, Steve said in one recording, as reported by GMA, from inside a vehicle. “I felt compelled to create this video to bring joy to you, my beloved. I hope it brings a warm smile to your heart. Rest assured, there is nothing that will cause me to harm you or deceive you, my queen.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an uncommon experience for Steve.
He said to KABC, “As far as I’m aware, many people have lost a significant amount of money, around hundreds.” He went on to express, “People often approach me during my events, looking at me as if we had been online friends for quite some time. However, I regretfully inform them that I don’t recognize them. It’s heartbreaking to witness the aftermath.
The 55-year-old, who recently wed Michelle Lundstrom, had a significant message for his followers. He made it clear that he doesn’t require their financial support and would never solicit money from them.
