A new trailer for the Disney+ series Wonder Man has generated buzz, but recent news about how long each episode will be is causing some fan frustration. One episode in particular has drawn significant criticism.
Marvel fans are displeased with Wonder Man’s runtimes
The new Marvel series Wonder Man is scheduled to debut on Disney+ on January 27, 2026, introducing a relatively obscure character from Marvel comics. Initial enthusiasm, however, has been dampened by reports of the episode lengths, with one episode being surprisingly short – less than 24 minutes long.
A user on X (formerly Twitter), known as “Legado da Marvel,” reported that the upcoming series Wonder Man will have eight episodes. Most episodes are expected to be between 30 and 34 minutes long, but episode five is rumored to be much shorter, lasting only 23 minutes. This news led to some fan frustration, with one person joking that a 23-minute episode might as well be posted on YouTube, and another expressing their disbelief with a frustrated comment.
People started comparing the show’s short episodes to the failed streaming service Quibi, with one user writing, “It feels like we’re going back to those super-short formats.” Another fan pointed out the odd length of episode 5, joking that it felt out of place compared to the rest of the season and asking for it to get some recognition.
Most viewers seem to prefer a smaller number of longer episodes. One fan perfectly captured this feeling, saying, “These episodes are too short. Why not make it just six?”
Although shows like She-Hulk and What If…? have tried shorter episodes in the past, the fifth episode of Wonder Man might be the shortest live-action episode in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.
