Before Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appears as Wonder Man in the upcoming Disney+ series, Marvel is relaunching the character’s comic book with a new series. Written by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Mark Buckingham, the comic promises a glimpse into the future of Wonder Man, hitting comic book stores about two months after the Disney+ show premieres. Duggan’s enthusiasm appears justified, and the upcoming Wonder Man project offers fans of the classic storyline something to enjoy while they anticipate Kevin Feige’s plans for the character’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Details were recently shared in a streaming series, which is promising – if executed well. As audiences watch those eight episodes, each with a distinct focus, Duggan and Buckingham will finalize their Wonder Man series, slated for release in Spring 2026.
At one time, Williams was controlled by the Enchantress, but now he’s striving to become an Avenger—a significant accomplishment. As often happens, old problems resurface as you move forward, and that’s exactly what happens to Williams in this Wonder Man series. His former cellmate, Randolph Chancellor, unexpectedly returns, challenging Williams’ strength and principles. To find out how this conflict resolves, you’ll have to wait until March 2026.
