The recent Disney+ series Wonder Man not only set up the villain for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie but also hinted at the future of the X-Men. With Wonder Man now available, Marvel Studios is officially building towards the 2026 release of Avengers: Doomsday. Along the way, we’ll see other projects like Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, Vision Quest, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day this July. While Spider-Man 4 has finished filming, details remain scarce. We know seven villains from Brand New Day will appear, but it’s still unknown who the main villain will be – a mystery similar to what surrounded Wonder Man before its release.
Unlike many Marvel Cinematic Universe stories, Wonder Man isn’t focused on a typical superhero conflict with massive special effects or a powerful villain. Instead, the main source of conflict comes from Arian Moayed’s Agent P. Cleary and the Department of Damage Control (DODC), who are chasing Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

The new Disney+ comedy connects to the previous Spider-Man movies because Cleary previously pursued Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in No Way Home. Although it’s not yet confirmed if Cleary will be in Brand New Day, photos from the set have revealed that the DODC will be involved in Spider-Man 4, specifically dealing with a prison break at one of their facilities.
In the upcoming series Brand New Day, the Department of Damage Control (DODC) will be led by Tramell Tillman, known for his role in Severance. While it’s rumored the DODC may eventually become the Anti-Mutant Enforcement Agency and clash with the X-Men, they’re currently focused on tracking down a single superhuman, portrayed by Sadie Sink.
Beyond establishing a significant role for Damage Control in the upcoming Spider-Man 4, Wonder Man is also starting to lay the groundwork for the MCU’s reboot of the X-Men. Characters like Cleary and Tillman could reappear in future X-Men films and series.
Wonder Man Teases Spider-Man 4, X-Men, & Sadie Sink

The finale of Wonder Man ends with Agent Cleary stating that Simon Williams could be either a major danger or a valuable resource for the Department of Damage Control. If the government feels this way about all people with superpowers, then the secret MCU character played by Sadie Sink might be seen the same way – as someone with unpredictable potential.
It’s still unknown what role the experienced actor from Stranger Things will play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but many believe they’ll be a villain with mind-control abilities. Some have even suggested they might play Jean Grey, a popular mutant character, especially if the current storyline involving the Department of Damage Control is leading towards the introduction of the X-Men.
As a big MCU fan, I didn’t expect Wonder Man to reveal so much about where things are headed. While it seems like a smaller, more focused story, it’s actually showing us a really important shift in the universe – a growing fear and distrust of superheroes. Honestly, it feels more significant than a lot of the bigger movies and shows we’ve seen lately, because it sets the stage for how people will react to heroes in future projects. It’s a subtle thing, but it feels like it’ll have a big impact.
