Wonder Woman‘s story began when pilot Steve Trevor unexpectedly crashed onto the hidden island of Themyscira. While the crash was nearly fatal for him, it ultimately introduced the world to Diana, a hero destined to fight for peace in a way no one else could. Throughout her adventures, Steve has been a constant companion and source of support, much like Lois Lane was to Superman. Sadly, Steve Trevor was killed by the villain Sovereign in the comic Wonder Woman (2023) #14, leaving Diana devastated and without her longtime partner.
Good news for Wonder Woman fans! It seems Steve Trevor will be returning, and it’s all because of events in the comic series Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman. The story follows Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor’s daughter, Lizzie, as she travels through time with alternate versions of herself to fix a mess they accidentally made – losing the transformed Damian Wayne and Jon Kent. Issue #6 of the series just revealed that Steve will be back thanks to Lizzie’s efforts.
Dad and Daughter Spend His Final Day Together

The day Steve died began with Super-Corgi unexpectedly entering his apartment. Trinity, the oldest of Jon’s children (in a dog form), followed and, despite knowing she shouldn’t interfere, she couldn’t resist meeting the father she’d never known. During a walk, Trinity accidentally revealed that Steve was going to die that day. She pleaded with him to escape to Themyscira or let her take him to safety, but he wouldn’t. Steve believed Wonder Woman wouldn’t risk altering the timeline to save him, and he explained that while he wanted to be with Diana and Lizzie, he wouldn’t save his own life if it meant Lizzie wouldn’t exist.
Steve Trevor faced his death with acceptance, but he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving his family behind. He confidently told Lizzie he’d find a way to return, asking only for her assistance. Knowing Wonder Woman, who carried a part of him within her, he believed she’d be willing to even defy destiny to save him. As predicted, Steve died at the hands of the Sovereign, but he passed away peacefully, filled with loving thoughts of his daughter.
Steve Trevor wasn’t ready to give up, especially not without meeting his daughter. Luckily, when he arrived at the River Styx in the afterlife, he found Robin Jason Todd waiting for him. Trinity had sent Jason to find Steve, and because time works differently in the underworld, Jason was able to locate him quickly. Jason was particularly eager to help, as he and Lizzie had a strong connection. Knowing Jason would return, Lizzie asked him to bring Steve back to life, where Steve would then fulfill his destiny by confronting the Three Fates and reuniting with his family.
A Return a Lifetime in the Making

The last issue of the series hinted that Steve Trevor and Trinity’s adventures will continue in the Wonder Woman comic. The story was told from Steve’s perspective as he spoke to baby Trinity after being resurrected, confirming his eventual return – the timing is the only mystery. Future story details reveal that one version of Trinity will team up with her mother to battle the villainous Amazon known as the Matriarch in the upcoming “Wonder War” arc, suggesting Steve Trevor might also reappear in that storyline.
His plan will definitely have serious consequences. It involved dangerously disrupting time itself, and he also went against the wishes of the gods to be with his family. Once Wonder Woman defeats the Martriarch and saves the world, she’ll likely have to deal with the fallout of her family’s choices. This will probably create conflict between her and the gods she’s meant to revere, and even with some of her Amazonian sisters, who might feel obligated to support the gods and preserve the natural order. This could lead to a huge battle between Wonder Woman and the forces of destiny as she fights to protect her family, but she’s prepared to face that challenge. As she’s proven recently, Wonder Woman always prioritizes what’s right, regardless of the rules.
