World of Warcraft: Midnight Gets New Animated Short About Arator Windrunner Ahead of Launch

With the March 2nd launch of World of Warcraft: Midnight nearing, Blizzard has shared a new animated short that delves into the game’s story. The previous short followed Lady Liadrin, and this one focuses on Arator Windrunner—the son of iconic Warcraft heroes Turalyon and Alleria Windrunner. You can watch the short film below.

Arator has always lived a life of sacrifice. His parents gave up everything when they fought through the Dark Portal to battle demons, and now he feels distant from them. He was raised by Vereesa Windrunner, but often visited Stormwind City’s Valley of Heroes to honor the statues of Alleria and Turalyon.

While all this was happening, Arator also became a paladin of the Silver Hand, proving himself to be a skilled warrior and eventually gaining the nickname “The Redeemer.”

This animated short is over five minutes long and tells the complete life story of Arator. We see his upbringing in the Elven city of Quel’Thalas, where Lor’themar trained him. The short explores Arator’s challenges finding his place in the world, and also hints at his future, including his decision to get tattoos symbolizing both light and darkness.

So, Blizzard is continuing the story they started with The War Within in the next expansion, World of Warcraft: Midnight. It picks up right where the last one left off, and this time it’s all about Xal’atath attacking the Sunwell. We’re going to get a ton of new quests to follow that storyline, but it’s not just story stuff. They’re actually bringing back and rebuilding the Eversong Woods – remember how messed up it was way back in Warcraft 3? – and we’ll even get to explore the Troll city of Zul’Aman. Plus, there are completely new zones like Harandar and the Voidstorm to check out. I’m really excited to see what this all looks like!

The upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion won’t introduce any entirely new classes, but Demon Hunter players have a lot to look forward to. They’ll gain access to a new specialization called Devourer, which lets them harness Void energy and essentially ‘steal’ abilities from their opponents. Plus, Void Elf players will now be able to play as Demon Hunters.

The new expansion offers something for everyone. Players who enjoy group content can explore new dungeons and tackle challenging world bosses across all zones. A raid will be available soon after launch, giving teams time to prepare. For solo players, there are plenty of new quests, plus unique Delves – each with their own storylines, rewards, and ways to progress. The expansion also expands the options available within the game’s professions system.

Midnight will be followed up by the trilogy’s climax, dubbed The Last Titan.
