WWE 2K26 Reveals New Gameplay Features, Modes, And Roster Updates (But DLC System Is The Biggest Change)

CM Punk will be a major focus in WWE 2K26, headlining the game, but the newest installment of the franchise offers much more to look forward to. Along with updated gameplay, a large selection of wrestlers, and new match types, the game features a completely redesigned downloadable content (DLC) system, which may prove controversial among fans.

Beyond the special CM Punk mode, WWE 2K26 boasts the biggest roster ever – over 400 superstars! Players can also look forward to four new match types: I Quit, Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, and Dumpster. Popular modes like MyGM, Creation Suite, MyRISE, MyFACTION, Universe, and The Island have all been improved. The biggest update, though, is how downloadable content works. Instead of traditional DLC packs, the game now uses Ringside Passes – a battle pass system where you unlock rewards as you play. This new approach might be controversial, and it remains to be seen how fans will respond.

WWE 2K26 Is Loaded With New Features (But These 3 Are The Best)

WWE 2K26 has a lot of exciting new features, but we’re most excited about three key improvements. First, Booker T and Wade Barrett are joining the commentary team – anyone familiar with NXT or SmackDown knows how much energy and insight they bring. Their presence will definitely elevate the matches and overall experience, and we’re hoping to hear Booker T call every entrance for Trick Williams!

Beyond the new Showcase, the game significantly improves two key systems: Reversals and Stamina. While functional in WWE 2K25, both have been refined for a better experience, and because they’re used so often during matches, you’ll really feel the difference. Finally, the Island mode, which wasn’t as strong in its first appearance, has received a major overhaul. The developers have added three warring factions and a redesigned progression system. They’ve also enhanced the mode with new quests, voiceovers from Superstars, cutscenes, and dialogue, making it much more engaging. These changes should make the Island mode a much more enjoyable experience.

WWE 2K26’s DLC System Just Got A Major Shakeup

The new downloadable content (DLC) will be released through Ringside Passes, which work similarly to the Battle Passes found in many free-to-play games. These passes will have 60 free levels and 40 premium levels you can unlock by earning XP in almost any game mode. Reaching level 40 of the premium pass unlocks a variety of rewards, including new Superstars, outfits, customization options, in-game currency (VC), content for MyFACTION, and content for The Island.

As a player, I’m really hyped about the new characters they’re adding with the Ringside Pass – we’re talking current Superstars, Legends, and even some unique Personas, plus they’re hinting at some surprises! They’ve said there will be six seasons of the pass throughout the year, and the first one drops at launch. I love the idea of earning stuff just by playing the game in all the different modes. Honestly, whether or not it’s worth it will depend on what free rewards they offer – that’ll be a big factor for a lot of us.

Every New Update and Mode in WWE 2K26

The 2K Showcase: Punked lets you experience the career of CM Punk, from his early beginnings to his triumphant return. Told through his own words, you’ll play through his most famous matches and face off against WWE Legends in exciting fantasy matchups. If you’re up for a real challenge, the Showcase Gauntlet will test your skills like never before. This 2K Showcase is the most personal one yet, detailing CM Punk’s incredible journey, his defiance of expectations, and his ultimate comeback.

WWE 2K26 features the largest roster in the game’s history, with over 400 playable characters! Players can choose from today’s top stars from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, plus legendary figures and WWE Hall of Famers like John Cena, Randy Savage, Rhea Ripley, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Andre the Giant. The game also includes returning favorites like Rey Fénix and Rusev, alongside new additions such as Blake Monroe, and many more exciting Superstars.

The game now features four new match types – I Quit, Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, and Dumpster – along with stackable tables and new items like shopping carts and thumbtacks, all within bigger, more interactive arenas. Players can now have intergender matches in most game modes. The reversal and stamina systems have been updated to add more strategic depth, and improved physics make gameplay feel more realistic and impactful. To enhance the experience, entrances are now more interactive, and Booker T and Wade Barrett have joined the commentary team.

The Creation Suite has been significantly upgraded with more save slots and enhanced customization options. Players now have 200 save slots for their created Superstars – double the previous amount – based on feedback from the community. The Creation Suite also now allows for 2,000 custom images, offers more detailed control over body and face shapes, and lets you blend two hair colors together. These improvements give players more freedom than ever to create the Superstars, arenas, and content they’ve always wanted.

MyGM now offers even more variety with new match types like intergender matches, and larger matches featuring up to 8 competitors. This expands the possibilities for exciting matches and unpredictable results. Plus, running more shows each season adds extra challenges to managing your brand in 2K’s strategy mode.

MyRISE introduces a fresh theme and boosts how much players enjoy replaying the game. Players now shape their MySUPERSTAR’s story through two different storylines – choosing to be a hero or a villain impacts their MyPLAYER in significant ways. Plus, there’s more to do after finishing the main stories, with new content and achievements to unlock, keeping players engaged for longer.

The WWE Draft is now available in the MyUniverse mode of WWE 2K, letting players build their own WWE world and decide match results. New features also include an easier Universe Creation Wizard, a Watch Show mode for enjoying matches, better Money in the Bank moments, and more options for creating promos.

WWE 2K is expanding its universe with ‘The Island,’ a new storyline and environment now available on all platforms, including PC for the first time. Players will align with one of three factions and compete for dominance using an updated progression system. The experience is richer than ever thanks to additions like the Scrapyard Brawl arena, new Towers challenges, shops, and branded items. Character creation is also improved with a more robust MySUPERSTAR builder, including the ability to import face photos, and quests now feature full voice acting, cutscenes, and dialogue for a truly immersive experience.

MyFACTION is returning with a focus on chemistry! This collectible card-battle mode features new mixed-gender teams and fast-paced Quick Swap matches. Players can collect fresh card designs and improve their team’s performance using Faction Chemistry and run-in support. Expect regular updates throughout the year, including themed card packs and new goals tied to seasonal content.

WWE 2K26 will release on March 13, 2026.
