WWE Raw is now the most popular show on Netflix, surpassing hits like His & Her. This wrestling program, also known as Monday Night Raw or simply Raw, has been a cornerstone of WWE (formerly WWF) since 1993.
After a complicated past involving legal battles over branding and talent moving between networks, WWE Raw officially became a Netflix exclusive in January 2025. This move is part of Netflix’s plan to offer live events, and it’s already proving successful.
Raw Has Dethroned All Netflix Scripted Shows
Currently, WWE Raw is the most-watched show on Netflix in the USA. It’s taken the top spot from the psychological drama His & Hers, starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, which had been number one since it premiered on January 8, 2026. This is a significant shift in what’s trending on the streaming service.
“His & Hers” is a good example of the kinds of shows that usually do well on Netflix – a scripted drama featuring well-known actors. “WWE Raw,” however, is different; it’s a live sports broadcast, which isn’t typically what people expect to find on Netflix. This could be a single experiment, or it might indicate that Netflix is starting to attract a different kind of viewer.
Netflix’s Live Events Strategy Is Paying Off
via Netflix
Netflix, once known mainly for streaming movies and TV shows, has quickly become a hub for live events, hosting over 200 since 2023. This includes recently adding the wrestling show Raw to its lineup (according to the Wall Street Journal), as well as events like the 2024 Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match and NFL games.
Although Netflix initially faced challenges – live events are trickier to stream than pre-recorded shows – they’ve successfully found a place for themselves in the competitive world of live TV. Their attempt to buy Warner Bros. Discovery indicates they believe their growing success with live events will help justify such a large investment.
Which Other Live Events Are Coming To Netflix
Netflix is expanding beyond traditional shows like Raw. They recently livestreamed Alex Honnold’s climb of a Taipei skyscraper and have begun airing podcasts live, such as Pardon My Take and The Bill Simmons Podcast. It seems likely they’re planning to add even more live content.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) will be broadcast on March 1, 2026. Football fans can watch the NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25, 2026. The boxing match between Fury and Makhmudov is scheduled for April 11, 2026. Although no deal has been made yet that’s as large as the acquisition of Raw, Netflix is likely planning more big projects.
