WWE’s CM Punk Throws Major Twist into WarGames Roman Reigns Team-Up

As a seasoned wrestling enthusiast with over two decades of watching these larger-than-life characters duke it out in the ring, I can’t help but be captivated by the latest developments between Roman Reigns and CM Punk on SmackDown. The tension was palpable during their meeting, a testament to the raw talent and charisma of both these wrestling icons.

Last week, WWE had everyone talking when Paul Heyman made his epic comeback to SmackDown, accompanied by CM Punk. It turned out that Punk was the secret fifth member of Roman Reigns’ original Bloodline squad for their upcoming match against Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline. Tonight, we were treated to a powwow between Reigns, Punk, and Heyman, trying to figure out if this alliance could really happen. The conversation was intense, and in the end, Reigns and Punk reached an understanding for a temporary partnership – but Punk dropped a bombshell by saying it would only cost him a favor. At first, Reigns was hesitant, but Punk clarified that he wasn’t asking for a favor from me (Reigns), as the favor would actually be from Heyman – and Heyman isn’t giving away what that favor is just yet.

The meeting began on a less-than-ideal note because Reigns appeared upset that Punk hadn’t arrived at the scheduled time. Just as Reigns was about to depart, Punk finally arrived. To further aggravate Reigns, Punk added fuel to the fire by saying, “I came for Paul Heyman; you’re the wiseman.

Initially, Reigns found it difficult to accept and responded, “I appreciate what you’re saying, but there’s one point I want to clarify. I don’t require your assistance.” Punk responded casually, “I thought you might feel that way. Frankly, I have no intention of offering you any help at all. I’m not here for you. I’m here for Paul.” Reigns then retorted, “I genuinely congratulate you both, but I don’t appreciate your tone or your attitude towards me. I don’t like you and I don’t wish to partner with you during WarGames tomorrow night.

In a situation where things were rapidly deteriorating, Heyman intervened to speak with Reigns. “My Tribal Chief, ever since right after WrestleMania, Solo has had us cornered. If we don’t take his aid, it’s game over.” Turning to Punk, he reasoned, “If you don’t join forces with us tonight, and Solo manages to reverse Roman Reigns and bring an end to the Bloodline, you’re in trouble next. Solo will target you. All five of them will come after you, not just now, but because Solo sees you as a threat. With due respect to both of you, split we all fall before Solo. United, at best, we stand a chance of surviving.

Later on, Punk expressed, “You find my demeanor unappealing. Regardless, it’s none of my concern. The feeling isn’t mutual, neither here nor there. I’m not here for your sake. I’m here for Paul. If you wish to reclaim your Ula Fala, that’s fine. My priority is different – I seek the scalps they took from me as retribution for what they did to my friend. Should WarGames conclude and if you feel the need to discuss this matter again, I’m more than willing to listen.

Later on, Reigns commented, “Once,” and Punk countered with, “Once, one favor.” Smirking, Reigns inquired, “You’re owing me a favor?” Punk then retorted, “Not you, you won’t be indebted to anyone. Our wise advisor will be the one who owes me a favor instead.” Leaving with his alliance solidified, it was then that Reigns inquired of Heyman, “Your wise man…what’s the favor he owes?

Afterward, Heyman remarked, “Chief of my Tribe. If we make it through WarGames tonight, there will be plenty of time later to discuss it. Now, speculation can start about the favor he’ll ask for and its impact on Reigns and his Bloodline. Perhaps more answers will surface post-WarGames.

Hey there fellow gaming enthusiast! I just finished watching SmackDown and it was a rollercoaster of emotions. The action, the drama, the suspense – it had everything a wrestling fan could ask for. As for WarGames, I’ve got my own predictions brewing. I think it’s going to be an intense battle between the teams, but if I were to put money on someone, I’d go with [Team A]. What are your thoughts and who do you think will emerge victorious at WarGames? Let’s chat all things wrestling and WWE on Threads, Twitter (@mattaguilarcb), and Bluesky (@knightofoa)!
