WWE’s John Cena Just Delivered All-Time Moment of Farewell Tour (And It May Never Be Matched)

WWE’s Crown Jewel event promised to be exciting, but past experience has taught us that potential doesn’t always deliver. This time, however, Crown Jewel lived up to the hype, especially with the highly anticipated match between John Cena and AJ Styles. That match was a career highlight for John Cena, and might even be the most memorable moment of his farewell tour, despite a few remaining appearances.

That match wasn’t just a single amazing moment – it was a series of incredible events, starting before the match began and continuing after a winner was declared. From the unique introduction referencing both Styles’ history and the Bullet Club, to a display of legendary wrestling moves, the whole thing felt special. The emotional tribute to Bray Wyatt was particularly powerful, clearly affecting Cena during the match, and it’s going to be extremely hard to create something as memorable in the future.

John Cena and AJ Styles Delivered an All-Time Showcase

Even before the wrestling match began, John Cena gave the ring announcer a special introduction he’d written for AJ Styles. The introduction referenced Styles’ past in TNA (formerly Total Nonstop Action) and surprisingly declared him the leader of the Bullet Club, which visibly shocked Styles. Cena then expressed his respect for Styles, who had cleverly worn his classic TNA wrestling outfit as a nod to their shared history. It’s safe to say the match started incredibly well.

John Cena paid a fantastic tribute to AJ Styles, calling him the embodiment of non-stop action and the leader of The Bullet Club. Cena expressed his excitement, as a fan and competitor, to see if Styles could defeat him one last time, acknowledging Styles as a dominant force.

The match lived up to expectations and was a classic John Cena performance. After taking some early offense from Styles, Cena elevated his game. The two wrestlers then cleverly incorporated finishing moves from other popular stars, successfully performing Randy Orton’s DDT, The Undertaker’s Tombstone and Chokeslam, The Miz’s Skull Crushing Finale, Shawn Michaels’ Sweet Chin Music, Chris Jericho’s Walls of Jericho, and Rusev’s Accolade. Cena even attempted Rey Mysterio’s 619 during the match.

Everything else paled in comparison to when Cena performed Bray Wyatt’s signature move, the Sister Abigail, on Styles. The crowd went wild, and then created an incredible scene by lighting up the arena with the flashlights on their phones – mimicking fireflies. Amidst the roaring chants, an emotional Cena paused, looked up, and nodded in remembrance of Wyatt, delivering a truly moving tribute.

John Cena ultimately won the match, paying tribute to The Undertaker before finishing with his signature Attitude Adjustment. It was a truly memorable contest, widely considered the highlight of his farewell tour. With only a few matches remaining, and speculation about Gunther as his final opponent, it’s unlikely he’ll have a better match than this one with Styles, and fans feel fortunate to have witnessed it.
