A new trailer for the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, just dropped online, and it includes the X-Men. While fans are excited to see the X-Men back, they’re also worried about one character’s safety. The trailer highlights the danger posed by Doctor Doom, leading many to believe a popular character might die in the film. This fear is understandable, as Marvel has killed off this character in past movies several times.
X-Men fans think Marvel will kill off Charles again
As a huge Marvel fan, I was thrilled to finally see the Avengers: Doomsday X-Men teaser online! It originally played in theaters last week, and it’s giving me chills – especially Professor X’s line, “Death comes for us all.” It’s definitely setting a dark tone for what’s to come.
Viewers are worried Charles might die in the new movie. This concern comes from the fact that Marvel has killed off the character, who uses a wheelchair and has telepathic powers, multiple times in past films.
Counting all of his live-action film appearances, Professor X was killed off a total of four times.
Professor X appears to die in the movie X-Men: The Last Stand when Jean Grey, as the Phoenix, destroys him during a fight. But, a scene after the credits shows he may have actually transferred his mind into the body of a man in a coma, suggesting he survived.
Professor X was killed in X-Men: Days of the Future Past when a Sentinel vaporized him. This happened after Wolverine was sent back in time to prevent the assassination of Bolivar Trask, with the goal of saving both humans and mutants. Fortunately, Wolverine succeeded in his mission, creating a new timeline and ultimately preventing Professor X’s death.
In the movie Logan, Professor X dies for the third time in the X-Men film series. He’s portrayed as an older man, one of only two remaining X-Men (along with Wolverine), and is unexpectedly killed by a clone of Wolverine called X-24 while he’s asleep.
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Charles Xavier dies again – this time marking his fourth on-screen death. He appears as a member of a group called the Illuminati. During a confrontation, Scarlet Witch violently kills him by snapping his neck while he attempts to help Wanda from another universe break free from her own influence.
