As a gamer, I’m starting to get worried about the future of Xbox. I’ve noticed a lot of stores aren’t even carrying the consoles or games anymore, and that’s a bad sign. Xbox used to be a huge deal – the Xbox 360 was amazing! But the Xbox One… that launch was rough. They focused on things we didn’t want, like always needing to be online, and pushed the Kinect and TV features way too hard. They eventually turned things around with Game Pass, which is awesome, but honestly, I wonder if *because* it’s so good, people aren’t buying as many individual games and consoles. It’s a little unsettling, to be honest.
Xbox has been offering players a lot of benefits, but these haven’t translated into the user growth Microsoft is hoping for. Combined with rising console prices, it’s becoming harder to bring in new players. Overall, it’s been a challenging year for Xbox, marked by price increases for consoles, a failed attempt to sell games for more money, and a significant price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The situation isn’t ideal, and it doesn’t look like things are improving quickly.
Target Stops Carrying Xbox Consoles and Games

Target stores are no longer selling Xbox consoles or games, according to a report from The Gamer. The sections dedicated to Xbox games have been removed, and any remaining titles are now on clearance. It’s unknown what happened to the consoles, but they appear to be out of stock. While new Xbox games like *Battlefield 6* are still available, they’re now displayed alongside PlayStation and Nintendo Switch games in a much smaller section.
I recently went to Target and noticed they had almost completely cleared out Xbox consoles, leaving only a few accessories and digital game cards. I checked with several other Target stores nearby, and they confirmed the same thing – very few Xbox consoles or games were available. Employees didn’t know why the consoles were pulled, or if they’d be restocked. While the Xbox Series X is no longer available to buy either in stores or online, the Series S is still available for online purchase.
The report also noted that Walmart seems to be experiencing a similar situation, though not as noticeably. While I’ve personally seen Xbox products still available in my local Walmart stores, it’s unclear if that will continue. However, the issue at Target appears to be much more widespread. Overall, Xbox continues to face challenges, and we’ve contacted Target for more information.
