Xbox Game Pass is getting three new games today, and one of them is considered one of the greatest role-playing games of all time, offering almost 200 hours of gameplay. It’s currently available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium members on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but it’s not yet clear how long it will stay on the service. Those with the basic Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) subscription won’t have access to this new RPG.
As of February 19th, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium members on both consoles and PC can now download two new games: Death Howl and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition. Ultimate subscribers also have access to EA Sports College Football 26. While both Death Howl and EA Sports College Football 26 are new releases for 2025, the biggest addition is The Witcher 3. This includes not only the main game, but also both of its major expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
One of the Greatest RPGs Ever Made
As a huge RPG fan, whenever the conversation turns to the best games ever made, especially in recent years, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt always comes up – and for good reason! It’s got an amazing 94 on Metacritic, and over 60 million people have bought it, making it one of the biggest-selling games of all time. Honestly, if you don’t include the original Pokémon games, it’s the best-selling RPG ever, and it’s not even a contest!
If you originally played this game when it first came out, it’s worth playing again on Xbox Series X – the updated version is a significant improvement over the original Xbox One release. And if you missed the expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, released in 2015 and 2016, now is a perfect time to experience them. Both are fantastic, but Blood and Wine is especially noteworthy and contains some of the very best content the game has to offer.
As a huge fan, I’ve put a lot of time into The Witcher 3, and let me tell you, if you want to see everything, you’re looking at around 175 hours just for the main game. Add in both expansions, and that jumps to about 235 hours! Now, you could rush through the main story and expansions in roughly 75 hours, but honestly, you’d be missing out on some of the best parts. The side quests and exploration are where the game really shines, so I highly recommend taking your time and really diving in.
If you’re not excited about the latest RPG release, there’s more good news for fans of the genre: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be available on the subscription service next month.
