Xbox Game Pass is a popular gaming subscription service that gives players access to a library of games for a monthly fee. The available games change regularly, with new titles added and others removed each month. While games usually stay on the service for several months, Xbox is currently offering a special ‘Free Play Days’ event, adding five new games for all subscribers to enjoy for a limited time.
Xbox Free Play Days is a weekly event that gives Xbox Game Pass subscribers access to a selection of free games. These games are only available for a limited time – usually just a few days – and act as extended demos, letting you try out popular titles before you decide to buy them. This week, from December 18th to December 21st, subscribers can enjoy some recently released games you won’t want to skip.
All Games Included in 2025 Xbox Free Play Days for December 18th-21st

This week, Xbox Game Pass members can play five new games for free! From December 18th to December 21st, those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscriptions will have full access to try them out.
- NBA 2K26
- WWE 2K25
- PGA Tour 2K25
- Ark: Survival Ascended
- The Forgotten City
These games are mostly recent releases, which is a change from typical Free Play Days events. You likely won’t have time to finish them in just a few days, but it’s a great chance to try them out and see if they’re worth buying. Plus, all the featured games are currently on sale for a good price, so you can get the full version at a discount if you enjoy them.
How to Play Xbox Free Play Day Titles

Every week, Xbox offers Free Play Days, letting Xbox Game Pass members try out a selection of games, both new and old. Unlike typical demos, you aren’t limited to a short trial – you have almost full access to the game for the duration of the event.
If you’re an Xbox Game Pass member and want to try these games while they’re still available, you can find them on the Xbox Store. Just go to the game’s page and hit ‘Get It Now’ – it’ll be free for me as a subscriber! I need to make sure I’m signed into my Game Pass account to see that option, though. If I’m playing on my console, it’s even easier – I can just find them in the Free Play Days collection.
The games offered during Xbox Free Play Days are only available for a limited time. Usually, access ends at midnight local time, meaning this week’s games can be played until 11:59 PM on December 21st. After that, you’ll need to purchase the full game to continue playing. The good news is that any progress you make during the free trial will be saved if you decide to buy the game, even if you wait a while before doing so.
Just a heads-up, the games available this week will disappear on December 21st, so if anything catches your eye, definitely try it out before it’s gone! We don’t know exactly what’s coming next week yet, but it looks like we’ll probably get another set of free games before the end of 2025.
