Microsoft is now testing new Xbox Series X/S features with its Xbox Insider program. These updates focus on making the Xbox more social, letting players customize their My Games & Apps screen, and providing a faster way to add games to their wishlists. Microsoft says these changes were based on suggestions from the Xbox community.
For Xbox Series X/S users who make heavy use of the console’s social features, the update will now make it easier to find mutual friends. Viewing another player’s profile now reveals how many mutual friends you share with them.
We’re currently testing some changes to the My Games & Apps screen to make it more visually appealing and easier to use. Games will now be displayed with poster-like artwork. We’ve also simplified the personalization settings by organizing My Games & Apps into distinct sections and adding helpful shortcuts. Plus, you’ll soon be able to add games to your wishlist directly from their game card on the console.
Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One owners are now getting a new Shutdown option designed to save energy. This feature, first tested with Xbox Insiders in 2023, dramatically lowers the console’s power usage – Microsoft says it can reduce consumption up to 20 times! Importantly, this won’t affect gameplay, performance, or the console’s ability to download updates and run other background tasks while in Sleep mode.
From now on, Xbox users in the Insider program can share more detailed feedback through the new Player Voice system, which launched last month. This system is a forum where players can suggest improvements and new features for Xbox.
Users can not only share their thoughts and suggestions, but also vote on the features they want most. Xbox’s team carefully reviews and categorizes all feedback to help guide their development plans. While it may take time to address every suggestion, Xbox has committed to being more open about what’s coming next. They announced that they will share important updates as they become available, as they explained when launching the Player Voice program.
The Xbox Player Voice portal is designed to complement existing Microsoft feedback systems like the Xbox Insider Hub, Support Forums, and social media. Each system serves a different purpose: the Xbox Insider Hub focuses on testing new features and finding bugs, while social media is for general discussions and ongoing conversations.
