Microsoft recently unveiled an exciting advancement for its Xbox PC application: gamers can now stream their personal titles directly through the app without needing any supplementary downloads. This convenient feature is complimentary and doesn’t necessitate further purchases or subscriptions; players simply need to buy the games themselves.
The new aspect essentially amplifies the company’s strategy for promoting Xbox Play Anywhere. This service lets users purchase a game from the Microsoft Store and then play it on any device that can run the Xbox app, as well as Xbox consoles. At the moment, over 250 games are accessible for streaming through the game streaming feature within the Xbox PC app.
The new feature was initially introduced for Game Pass Ultimate members, enabling them to stream their owned games across various devices, including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One consoles, TVs, Meta Quest headsets, PCs, and smartphones via browsers. At present, this functionality can be utilized in the 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is accessible.
In their announcement, Microsoft stated that these updates are a continuation of their initiative to enhance the PC version of Xbox, aiming to spread the joy of Xbox gaming to even more locations. These updates enable players to stream their games, rejoin cloud games, or accumulate rewards simply by playing, all with the goal of providing greater control, flexibility, and incentives for gameplay.
The collection of games supported in this service exceeds 250 different titles, which are accessible through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta). Additionally, it offers games not yet available through Game Pass. By utilizing this feature, players can bypass the time typically spent on downloading games and save storage space by streaming their preferred game directly.
The Xbox PC application has received another update for participants in the Xbox Insider program. Those who are also Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play all cloud-compatible games through the Xbox PC app. This covers console-exclusive titles from the original Xbox up to contemporary games. Now, Xbox Insiders can view their gaming history across multiple devices they use for Xbox gaming, such as consoles and personal computers.
It’s predicted that the new feature will be particularly beneficial for devices with less processing power, like the forthcoming Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld gaming systems. Although neither Microsoft nor Asus have announced a release date for these systems, there are whispers suggesting pre-orders could start on August 20th. Last year’s reports hinted that both devices would be launched in late October.
To learn further insights about the jointly developed portable devices by Microsoft and Asus, due for release soon, take a look at additional information that was not initially disclosed, including reasons why these systems won’t incorporate OLED screens.
