Xbox, PC Sci-Fi RPG Starfield Won’t Be Revealed for PS5 Until Next Year

When Starfield released in 2023, it was expected to be a major exclusive game for the Xbox Series X|S, especially after Microsoft acquired Bethesda. However, it didn’t become as popular with players as Microsoft had anticipated.

For a long time, people have speculated that the game would come to PS5, but as we near the end of 2025, there’s still no official announcement about it.

Most recently, Bethesda announced they’re rebuilding the game and want to ensure all the upgrades are ready for its launch on PlayStation. Current estimates point to a release on Sony’s console in Spring 2026.

So, I’ve been hearing from Nate the Hate – and that guy always seems to know what’s up – that we shouldn’t expect an announcement for the port this year. It’s a bummer, but he’s usually spot on with this kind of stuff.

He recently told fans on X (formerly Twitter) that he expects an announcement to be made in 2026, though that could change.

One user challenged the rumor, jokingly reminding Nate the Hate that he’d been predicting a PlayStation 5 release since 2024. Nate the Hate responded by firmly restating his belief that the game will come to PS5 next year.

The main concern now is whether people are still interested in Starfield. It’s gained a reputation, whether deserved or not, for being somewhat unexciting.

Currently, only around 2,000 people are playing the game on Steam, while the classic Skyrim has a much larger player base of 14,000.

Many people were hoping to hear about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5 at The Game Awards, but it doesn’t look like an announcement will be made there.

The wait for this divisive adventure goes on.
