It’s widely recognized that the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 has been a hit, and recent sales figures suggest that it’s doing exceptionally well. In fact, these strong sales have propelled it to the position of being the best-selling new game on the PS5 in 2025 thus far.
Based on Alinea Analytics’ data, the racing title achieved over three million sales on PS5 within a week following its April launch, making it the top-selling new release of 2025 for the console. This surpasses the 2.9 million sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, as reported by the site.
According to Alinea Analytics, the recent discounted sales in the PlayStation Store significantly contributed to Forza Horizon 5 reaching its latest milestone. Currently, the game is being offered at a 25% discount and will continue to be available during the PS Store’s summer sale, which ends on July 30th.
Based on Aliene Analytics’ predictions, these are currently the projected top five highest-grossing new PlayStation 5 releases for the year 2025, as of 21st July.
- Forza Horizon 5 — 3.0 million
- Monster Hunter Wilds — 2.9 million
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows — 2.0 million
- Elden Ring Nightreign — 1.4 million
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — 1.3 million
In the recent past, we got an update about Forza Horizon 5’s sales figures, revealing that it had sold approximately two million units within its initial month of release. It seems that subsequent price reductions have been effective in maintaining an upward trajectory for the game’s sales chart.
In our review of Forza Horizon 5, we gave it an 8 out of 10 and stated: “Even though Forza Horizon 5 has been around for a few years, its abundance of activities, comprehensive feature set, and exceptional driving mechanics keep it ahead of the pack.” Given its strong performance on the PS5, it’s expected that the next game will launch simultaneously for Sony and Xbox systems.
