Microsoft has officially announced the next Xbox console, known internally as Project Helix, putting an end to recent speculation.
Wow, it’s hard to believe, but we’re almost at the end of the Xbox Series X/S generation! It feels like just yesterday they came out in November 2020. Time really flies when you’re having fun playing games!
But what can we look forward to in a new era of Xbox gaming?
Here’s what you need to know about Project Helix.
Xbox Project Helix release date speculation: When could the new console come out?
Xbox Project Helix is currently slated to release at some point in 2027.
AMD CEO Lisa Su revealed during the company’s February earnings call that they are developing a chip for a console, and development is “progressing well” with a planned release in 2027.
We don’t have a firm launch date for 2027, and current shortages of computer chips and memory could even delay it until 2028. Like many companies, including Valve, we’re facing supply chain challenges that could impact the timeline.

What to expect from Xbox Project Helix
Currently, very little is known about Project Helix, as Microsoft is keeping details confidential.
Microsoft’s new head of gaming, Asha Sharma, has confirmed that Project Helix will allow players to enjoy games on both Xbox and PC.
For a long time, people have speculated about a new Xbox console that combines features of both traditional consoles and other devices. This news confirms that Xbox is moving forward with plans to build a single, connected gaming experience, with Xbox Game Pass at its core.
That’s pretty much all the information available on Project Helix at this point. Sharma did say the console will be very powerful, but that’s expected with any new generation of gaming hardware.
Microsoft plans to share more details about the console at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, and we expect to hear more news soon.
