Xbox Sales Hit New Low in UK, Barely Competes with PS5 at This Point

Xbox console sales in the UK have recently fallen to their lowest point, as Microsoft shifts its focus away from traditional console sales.

Xbox Series sales dropped a significant 39

While people anticipated a possible drop in performance due to the company’s shift towards publishing on multiple platforms, few expected such a dramatic and rapid decline.

It’s interesting to remember that the UK was once a key market for Xbox, especially during the Xbox 360 era. Back then, Sony really had to work hard to gain any traction against Microsoft.

The Xbox Series isn’t keeping up with the PlayStation 5 in UK sales. PlayStation 5 reportedly had a very strong 2025 in the UK, especially during Black Friday, where it significantly outperformed the Xbox.

However, Microsoft has been moving away from focusing on hardware sales for quite some time. Company leaders emphasize they aren’t directly competing with PlayStation in terms of consoles, and they’re even releasing games like Halo, which were once exclusive to Xbox, on PlayStation.

Things have definitely changed, and these poor sales numbers are making people wonder about Microsoft’s plans for the next Xbox. Microsoft has said they’re planning a new console in the next few years, but it’s hard to see how that will succeed if there’s very little interest in buying one now.

What are your thoughts on where Xbox is headed right now? And how do you see this affecting PlayStation in the future? Share your opinions in the comments!
