From the very beginning, we felt the demand for Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 was enormous, but to be honest, we’re still a bit amazed at its sales performance.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but share my excitement about the blockbuster title that’s been dominating the gaming scene since its release on Sony’s platform. In just its first month on the market, this game managed to sell an incredible two million copies!
The statistic you’re referring to was shared by former Turn 10 Game and Level Designer, Harrison Bolin, unfortunately let go in Microsoft’s recent series of job cuts.
In his resume, he notes the following, as first spotted by ResetEra:
Designs for cross-platform features were developed, which allowed Forza Horizon 5 to achieve sales of over two million copies within a month, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
It’s truly impressive to note these statistics, more so when we consider that the open-world racing game was initially launched for Xbox Series X|S and PC as far back as 2017, which is nearly four years ago.
For a considerable period, the PS5 arcade racing enthusiasts have been left in the lurch, as popular series such as MotorStorm were discontinued by Sony, and EA paused development on Need for Speed. Consequently, gamers had limited options, with The Crew being practically the only choice available for quite some time.
It’s been confirmed by Microsoft that a new Forza game will release next year. Given that half of Turn 10’s team has left, many anticipate that the upcoming game could potentially be Forza Horizon 6, developed by Playground Games.
If it releases simultaneously on PlayStation 5 (which seems highly likely now), there’s a strong possibility that it will be among the top-selling games in 2026.
