Cardano Wallet Goes Multi-Chain: XRP Joins the Party! 🎉
In a recent cosmic gathering of minds known as an ask-me-anything (AMA) session, the illustrious Cardano co-founder, Charles Hoskinson, casually dropped the bombshell that XRP support is on its way to Input Output’s Lace wallet. Yes, you heard it right! The wallet that’s as light as a feather and as useful as a towel in a galactic hitchhiker’s journey is about to get even more exciting. 🚀
This delightful little light wallet, birthed by one of the main entities behind the Cardano blockchain (because who doesn’t want a little blockchain drama?), made its grand entrance into the public mainnet back in April 2023. It allowed users to stake ADA directly from the wallet, which is a bit like finding a five-star restaurant in a galaxy of fast food joints.
But wait, there’s more! Subsequent updates have sprinkled a bit of magic dust, introducing features like enhanced connectivity for decentralized applications and hardware integrations. By June 2024, Lace was flaunting its multi-wallet and multi-account support like a peacock in a tuxedo. 🦚
As reported by U.Today (the intergalactic news source of choice), the team behind Lace announced that the wallet was going multi-chain, enabling support for Bitcoin in April. With the release of Lace 1.22, users could now store and manage their Bitcoin holdings on a test network. This new feature also laid the groundwork for Bitcoin-based decentralized finance (DeFi) on Cardano, which is like opening a portal to a universe of financial possibilities.
Last month, in a plot twist worthy of a soap opera, Lace went live on Firefox, one of the most popular browsers in the universe. Its Firefox extension supports creating wallets, staking, and decentralized finance (dApp) connectivity. Because who doesn’t want to manage their crypto while browsing cat videos? 🐱
Hoskinson’s XRP U-turn
In a turn of events that could rival any intergalactic saga, Hoskinson, who previously had a bit of a spat with the XRP community, has now decided to embrace the token and Ripple Labs like an old friend. It’s like watching a grumpy cat suddenly become a cuddly kitten. 🐾
Last December, he praised the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin while also stating that he was working on bringing the token to Cardano. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more dramatic, he recently endorsed the idea of Ripple acquiring stablecoin firm Ripple Labs. Because why not throw a little more chaos into the mix?
