So, what’s XRP supposed to do next?

Despite the frantic, almost desperate, buying in the Futures market – a behaviour generally observed in creatures facing imminent doom – the price stubbornly suggested a descent to $2 or even lower. One begins to suspect the universe has a sense of humour. A rather cruel one, admittedly. 🙃

What cosmic alignment is needed to avoid this fate?

A rally beyond the overhead supply zone, stretching a frankly quite imposing $2.8, would be a start. But let’s be realistic. This is XRP we are talking about. Expectations should be managed. Think ‘slightly less disappointing’ rather than ‘triumphantly bullish’.

Last week, Ripple [XRP] decided to dabble in the digital asset treasury (DAT) business. The media, naturally, reacted as if someone had invented a self-folding laundry machine. It involved leveraging on-chain infrastructure for payment solutions. Honestly, it sounded plausible. 🤔

This development did absolutely nothing to soothe the market’s anxieties, but it did reassure the long-term investors, those brave souls still clinging to the hope of eventual riches. Bless them. They’ll need it.

Meanwhile, the government shutdown is currently preventing the SEC from approving XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Because of course it is. Everything is always just slightly more complicated than it needs to be. It’s a fundamental law of the universe.

Ripple’s Treasury Adventure: A Mild Distraction

Crypto Analyst Maartun – a name which sounds suspiciously like it was invented for this very purpose – pointed out that Chris Larsen, Ripple’s Co-Founder, had accrued a rather astonishing $764 million in profits since 2018. From selling XRP. Naturally.

Apparently, these sales tend to occur right before the market hits a bit of a snag. Coincidence? Probably not. The universe definitely has a sense of humour.

He observed, with a notable lack of surprise, that while Larsen was busy counting his money, XRP holders were still… holding. The bag, that is. It’s a classic scenario, really. A bit like watching a slow-motion train wreck, but with more blockchain. 🚂

Trader KriptoMessi observed that the XRP Futures Taker CVD had wobbled towards a ‘bullish’ outlook. Which is promising, if you ignore all the other less optimistic indicators. This feels like the sort of statement that should be accompanied by a large asterisk and a disclaimer about the inherent unpredictability of the market. Remember, past performance is no guarantee of future results, especially when past performance involves a rather significant amount of disappointment.

The XRP market dominance was also expected to perk up, exhibiting behaviour vaguely resembling its past performance. A thrilling prospect, to be sure. 😲

Someone helpfully pointed out that 30k Bitcoin [BTC] being sent to exchanges didn’t prevent Bitcoin’s rally to $69k. Which, while true, feels like comparing apples and interplanetary spaceships. Just sayin’.

XRP: Déjà Vu All Over Again

The price is currently engaged in a frustrating game of lower highs and equal lows. Basically, it’s doing its best impression of a deflating balloon. It’s also forming a descending triangle, which sounds ominous. Very ominous indeed. 📉

Beneath the imbalance on the daily chart (between $2.5 and $2.77 – yes, very specific) the chances of a bullish breakout are, shall we say, ‘unpromising’. Highlighted in cyan, for maximum visual despair.

Despite a vaguely optimistic weekly market structure, XRP seems destined to stumble before reaching $2.3. Even Ali Martinez, a popular crypto analyst, agrees. He thinks $2 is next. Honestly, at this point, expecting anything different would be foolish. Utterly foolish.
