Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is expected to continue his work with Marvel. He recently shared his excitement about the renewal of the Wonder Man series, suggesting he’ll be involved for another season.
During an interview to discuss his new Netflix show, Man on Fire, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II talked about the renewal of Wonder Man for a second season. He expressed his excitement about it and hinted at what fans can expect from his character, Simon Williams, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “This one felt different,” Abdul-Mateen said. “I’m thrilled we’re getting a season two, and I can’t wait to share what we’ve created.”
You know, after a movie wraps, I usually try to step away from it completely. I need to disconnect from all the buzz and conversations surrounding it – it’s just how I process things and stay sane with all the feedback coming in. With Wonder Man, I actually did things a little differently this time around.
The actor explained that Wonder Man felt particularly meaningful because it resonated with creative individuals and dreamers. They were happy to have even a small connection to the discussions around the show, especially knowing how many people it impacted, and they felt proud to be involved.
Wonder Man Explores Hollywood in a World Filled with Superheroes
Wonder Man offers a glimpse behind the curtain of Hollywood while exploring the life of Simon Williams, a man with superpowers who’s also trying to make it as an actor. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role. Ben Kingsley returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Trevor Slattery, a down-on-his-luck actor, marking his fourth appearance after roles in Iron Man 3, the short film All Hail the King, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
This Marvel Cinematic Universe series centers on a duo trying to get cast in a remake of the fictional superhero movie Wonder Man. However, because of a rule called the Doorman Clause that prohibits people with superpowers from working in Hollywood, Simon has to conceal his abilities. He also has to avoid the Department of Damage Control, who see him as a potential danger.
Wonder Man is available to stream on Disney+.
