Next week, RGG Studio will be livestreaming a presentation about Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, giving viewers a look at how the games are played and what features they offer.
I’m really excited for the remake, and this gameplay video definitely looks good! We knew Yakuza Kiwami 3 was changing up Kiryu’s fighting style – like adding that cool new stance where he uses weapons – but this is the first time I’ve really seen it in action and gotten a good look at how it all works.
The game also includes a smaller side story called Dark Ties. In it, you play as Mine, a villain from Yakuza 3, and we haven’t had much chance to see him in action yet beyond a few screenshots and short videos.
We expect this presentation will cover more than just fighting. Yakuza 3 Remastered is adding various side activities, such as caring for the children at Sunshine Orphanage as Kiryu. There seems to be a lot of content to look forward to.
The stream is scheduled for February 12th at 5pm Pacific Time / 8pm Eastern Time. For viewers in Europe, it will begin on February 13th at 1am GMT / 2am Central European Time, making it a late-night event.
Recent online broadcasts of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series have received negative feedback from viewers. This is due to allegations of sexual assault against actor Teruyuki Kagawa, who plays a key villain in the game’s remake. Viewers have responded by flooding past streams and comments with calls to remove him using the hashtag #REMOVEKAGAWA.
SEGA and RGG Studio haven’t commented publicly, which has upset people who disagree with Kagawa’s participation. This broadcast could likely reignite the protests against it.
