Years After His Last Marvel Appearance, A Major Daredevil Character Needs to Return Quick

Daredevil has always had memorable allies in his comic books, and one in particular deserves to return. Since his debut in 1964, Daredevil has protected Hell’s Kitchen, prioritizing justice rather than revenge. As lawyer Matt Murdock, he champions the innocent while also using his Daredevil persona to intimidate criminals. Throughout his adventures, he’s partnered with both ordinary friends like Foggy Nelson and complex figures like Elektra.

Despite his difficult past – which has included some truly harrowing experiences – Blindspot remains a strong and valuable ally to Daredevil. It’s been too long, and he deserves to reappear in Marvel Comics.

What Happened To Blindspot?

Blindspot is Samuel Chung, a brilliant inventor who came to the country without legal permission. He built his own invisibility suit to secretly fight crime in Chinatown. He soon met Daredevil, who became his mentor, teaching him martial arts. Unfortunately, Daredevil’s enemies started to target Blindspot, and things quickly became dangerous.

After his mother joined a dangerous group called the Church of the Sheltering Hands, led by a former member known as Tenfingers, he found work with Matt Murdock and became Daredevil’s assistant. This brought him into conflict with Daredevil’s foe, Muse, who brutally blinded him, intending to make him more like Daredevil. But the injury created unexpected complications when his mother reappeared, hoping the Church could restore his vision.

Okay, so things got really intense for Blindspot here. This is where the show took a seriously dark turn, and honestly, I think it sets up some amazing storylines for what’s to come. We learned his mother made a deal with the Beast – her soul for Sam’s vision – and that led him down a path with the Hand. He actually led Daredevil into a trap, but they managed to escape, though tragically, Sam’s mom didn’t make it. Not long after, Blindspot went back after Muse, and the Beast conveniently offered help. He took it, but then, in a surprisingly heroic move, rejected the demon after defeating Muse. Big mistake! That rejection sent the Beast into a rage, and now New York City is paying the price.

The conflict ultimately became known as the Red Fist Saga. Although the Beast was beaten, it wasn’t truly destroyed and continued to exist in Hell, tormenting Blindspot in his dreams. Determined to end it, Blindspot intentionally put himself in the Beast’s path, hoping to defeat it even if it meant sacrificing himself. Fortunately, Daredevil intervened, urging Blindspot to prioritize his family and look after his sister. Daredevil then stepped in and finished the fight, finally destroying the Beast.

It’s Time Marvel Brought Back Blindspot

Since 2023’s The Red Fist Saga, the character Blindspot has largely vanished from Marvel Comics. He initially retired in 2019, persuaded by Daredevil to leave vigilantism and improve his life. But his return in 2023 showed he couldn’t fully abandon fighting. Now, with Daredevil defeating the Beast, Sam (Blindspot) might finally be able to find peace.

Comic book fans know heroes rarely get to rest for long, and it’s time for the character Blindspot to reappear. Many were likely disappointed that, despite Muse being a key villain in the first season of Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again, Blindspot wasn’t involved. If he does return, it would likely be connected to a significant event, as he’s still responsible for his younger sister following their mother’s death.

It’s surprising, but the character Blindspot has only appeared in 36 Marvel comics issues. Even with that limited history, he’s become a fan-favorite supporting character for Daredevil, proving he deserves a return. With so many new, young heroes emerging in Marvel, Blindspot could easily be integrated into a teen hero series, and his help would be a great addition to any future Daredevil story.
